Noggin’ Food

I need all the brainpower I can get today! Normally the husband’s 3am alarm doesn’t wake me up more than a roll-over, but he snoozed today because he was driving instead of biking due to rain and I tossed and turned for about 30 minutes (knowing the alarm was going to go off any second). The WHOLE 30 minutes I kept going over Organic subconsciously! All the reaction names kept flashing into my head. Visions of sugarplums were replaced by carboxylic acid 😥 Too bad there’s really not an OFF switch for the brain!

But despite it’s betrayal, I fed it this delicious orange bowl of sweet, filling pumpkiny oats. I guess I was so creative that I am now being un-creative and having the same bowl over and over. It’s just that perfect of a blend of ingredients. Three cheers for pumpkin!

The Food:

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water, salt, 1 medium banana, 1 tbsp raisins
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin, stirred in at end
  • 2 tbsp wheatberries, stirred in at end
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin butter
  • 1 tbsp ground flax
  • Sprinkle shaved coconut butter
  • Spoonful EF PB

+ the perfect cup of coffee 😉 I am such a coffee lover these days.

DSC06793

Today’s schedule:

  • 7:15a – Depart for Winthrop (it’s still DARK out there!)
  • 8:00a – Lifespan final exam
  • 9:00a – Depart for home
  • 10:00a – Emails, refresh the brain, 20 mins of yoga???? (Only if I’m in the mood)
  • 11:00a – Organic Study
  • 12:30p – Lunch + blog
  • 2p – Head to Victoria’s for Massive Study Session
  • 7p – Some form of dinner?
  • 9-10p – Bedtime

Best advice I can give for organic mechanisms: when all else fails and you’re completely stuck, try to transfer a proton (and always balance the charge)! And never use hydroxide as a leaving group! Good luck on the exam.

mg- Some people think they are not real food, which I totally understand, but they are really convenient and delicious. My favorite is the corndogs! They taste exactly like the reall thing, but are so much better for you. Also the black bean burgers are great, 4 g of fiber and low fat!

I’m sending you over tons of energy and tons of brain power! I hear eating chocolate while you study, and right before you take your test will improve your memorization, because the taste/smell of chocolate triggers the stuff you were thinking of/leaning…. just a little more incentive to eat chocolate!
I hope you have the time for yoga today!

    Ryane ,
Thanks for the info on the Wal-Mart pumpkin!! I’ll definitely be making a trip just to hunt them down.

    Jessica ,
Great advice!! I’ll remember that…I do always think OH should be a leaving group!! Grrr to that.

    Sarah ,
    Thanks 😳

    Fancy ,
Haha – funny you remember that. I don’t know what we did with the card. It might have gone out as a thank you note.

    Tammy ,
I think I’d probably be the same weight with or without taking the photos – because I make my food decisions before I take the photo. However, I do think that sometimes in the evenings after I’ve blogged having to either report back with no photo or re-blog discourages me to eat a late-night snack or dessert.

This is for “mg”, who wanted to know what kind of Morning Star product to buy…my favorite is the cumbles sold in a bag and can be used as you would ground beef. I throw some in a skillet sprayed with olive oil and brown with onions, then add diced tomatoes, and all kinds of veggies and brown rice for a wonderful soup! One bag will make 4-5 pots of soup for us..according to how much crumbles you want to use.
