Seize The Donut

Sometimes you just gotta donut. Lucky for me, this was a local, organic, well-portioned, made-from-scratch donut dough-nated by our neighbors at Carpe Donut! I found a small paper bag of them at the bakery and satisfied all cravings in 5 bites!

image

Matt and I spent a good portion of the afternoon at the Charlottesville Radio Group recording commercials (our voices are heard by thousands! scary!) and then I did a photo shoot for an upcoming newspaper ad. FYI, Great Harvest makes perfect Mother’s Day and Teacher gifts!

Low-Res1

Snack #2 (the healthy one) was a handful of almonds.

While I munched, I rested the bowl on my stomach and actually saw it bounce a few times! Baby kickin’ little footballs!

image

For cocktail hour, I met up for a post-work walk with my friend Eileen and got to see her brand new house!

And then back at home, I was thrilled to have a heat n eat dinner to look forward to. This was a combination of leftover Minestrone “soup” and last night’s pork plus a generous portion of goat cheese.

IMG_9643-2Blog

It tasted good at first, but by the time I got down to the last few bites I declared I never wanted to eat this again. Too much….seasoning or something.

IMG_9644-2Blog

So I washed it all down with my latest drink – Raspberry Lemonade diluted 1:4 with water!

Pleasant dinner on the porch, followed by reading on the porch, followed by two shivering people on the porch!

Inside and winding down.

    Gorgeous lemonade pictures.

And funny how last night the pork was the best ever, and tonight, it gets the never again. A combo of pregnancy and moods (and seasonings) it sounds like…I have foods like that, too. Sometimes I LOVE them and other times I think, WHAT was I thinking making this…haha!

Thank you so much for your blog!! It has not only inspired me in many ways but also my family!! I live in Ohio, and I never thought there would be a Great Harvest here..until one day!! I was driving to the store and basically ran into the car in front of me because I saw a sign for Great Harvest!! I screamed!! I went in and bought 3 loaves and told them how I found out because of your blog, the owner reads your blog as well!! It was like some little world moment!! Anyways, I took some bread to my parents and they LOVED it! And now when my mom goes to her location she send me a picture of the bread!! So thank you so much!! I know what I will be getting her for Mother’s day:)

I don’t think I’ve had a donut in ages. Will had one the other day and asked if I wanted the rest. I said sure and asked where it was. “Oh, the trash can,” he said. “But it’s still in it’s bag.”

I do not need to be the girl who ate half a donut out of the trash can. Half a donut, maybe. But out of the trash can is stepping over into unacceptable territory.

I got to spend last Saturday wandering around Charlottesville – including the farmer’s market and your store! I bought a loaf of C-Ville Crunch from your wonderful and kind employee at the market ((I was SO glad to find it!) and have been enjoying it and a container of your pimento cheese from the store ever since. Your bread is amazing and so is your staff! Both the girl at the market and the girls/boy in the store were very kind and helpful! They even recommended I pick up one of those Apple Donuts. Have you had it as an ice cream sandwich?!?! Thanks for a wonderful gastro and customer service experience!
