Bedcovers

My afternoon was not all that unlike a toddlers’…

Snacktime… [Oh’s, milk, PB]

IMG_9578Blog

Naptime…

Playtime at yoga!

I ruffled the bedcovers a bit when I took a 20 minute power nap this afternoon and didn’t bother to remake the bed neatly. And hilariously, the boy who never made his bed in college just yelled this down the basement stairs:

“Why is the bed all unmade!?”

He was clearly disturbed. He even makes the bed when I travel now! Says it’s more comfy to get in at night : )

Karen came over tonight and we had a ‘fancy’ weeknight dinner to celebrate.

Grilled asparagus and 3 huge pork chops that our friend Pig Guy gave us.

IMG_9580-2Blog

Matt grilled them up in a pineapple jam glaze. Seriously, the best pork I’ve ever tasted.

IMG_9586-2Blog

And we had herby brown rice on the side.

IMG_9585-2Blog

‘Twas a filling meal (and I only ate about 1/3 of my pork – lots of leftovers!)

Reading time!!

Hmm… Those pork chops look delicious! I’ve been trying to convince my family that pork chops don’t always have to mean Shake N’ Bake. Now I just have to show them these lovely pictures and I’ve got my ammo ready to go 😀

Was just talking about how I want to eat more pork! My boyfriend is in Vietnam at present where apparently pork dumplings are all the rage. Definitely a meat I don’t think about enough.

I feel like I struggle to eat meat to get in the protein — I just don’t want meat at night but that is the only meal I have the time to cook it/eat it since it’s the only meal I get to get at home.
It looks delicious though! I don’t think I’d have a problem with those pork chops with that glaze! Mmmm!

I tried PB in my cereal after seeing it in one of your photos, but it seemed kinda strange.. as much as I LOVE PB, I just couldn’t get into it. 🙂 Do you mix it around in the milk?

Haha! The bed-making situation is hilarious. And THAT is why I make my bed every. Single. Day. It really does feel so better (and cleaner…) to get into a bed with the sheets all crisp and folded over. I could never hop into a disheveled bed. Ew. If unmade beds were awesome, every hotel would just toss the pillows and comforter aside. Instead, they pile on like 15 throw pillows (which I, of course, throw). =)

we had pork chops for dinner too, you look much better since they are grilled, it is too cold in NJ to grill outside, at least is cold for me, so we just fried them by they were a little tough! 🙁 and I lobe PB and cereal somehow I forgot about this combo for sometime it is time to bring it back!

I have found jam/preserves/marmalade, etc. to be one of the easiest, and tastiest, ways to prepare meat! Your dinner looks delicious. And I had to laugh at the bed-making dilemma–I hate climbing into an unmade bed, but my husband thinks it’s more comfortable. Hopefully, he’ll adopt Matt’s way of thinking someday!

Funny. My dad hates it when my mom makes the bed. If he goes to go to bed before she does and he sees that the bed is all made up, he’ll ask her to go in there and “fix the bed” for him.

I don’t mind the staining so much. However, I don’t put the actual stuff on it when I bake cookies. I just cover it with a Silpat sheet so nothing from the pan comes off. I even use the Silpat for making things like pepperoni bread. It’s so easy to clean. But, I hear ya’ with the staining part. I like the way they heat evenly.

Was the jam from GH? I used the Stonewall Kitchen Peach Amaretto Jam and Maple Maine Champagne Mustard mixed with some maple syrup and pineapple juice to glaze a Trader Joe’s ham, delicious! It’s nice to have a friend like Pig Guy, my dad was a Pig Guy so we always had pork in our freezer and beef that and chicken that we got from friends. How nice to be able to get together with Karen during the week. I think a toddler’s life is pretty ideal, we should all be allowed to follow their daily schedules.

I’ve been looking for simple recipes to make some chops my Dad gifted us this weekend and this might be it. I’ve always made them with apricot jam, a dry rub or apples but I have a few pineapples at hand so this gave me the brilliant idea to mix the two. Now I’m off to see how I execute this 🙂
