Wood… You Like Some Dough?

IMG_9650-2Blog

Time is flying by – it’s Thursday! I wrote this to-do list last night and it has doubled in size since with an additional call and 2 other to-dos.

And we have this awesome new reclaimed wood chalkboard in our kitchen! A friend of a friend wanted to hire me to help her get started on a blog. I felt awkward taking money, so instead she gave me one of the chalkboards! They will be available soon at our local online gift shop, Red Bud Gifts! [Now available here!]

IMG_9655-2Blog

In the spirit of overnight oats, I made this strawberry banana dough boy smoothie last night! With the addition of a half cup of greek yogurt for + protein.

For a dough boy, put ingredients in your blender, stir, and put your blender in the fridge. In the morning, blend!

IMG_9648-2Blog

The texture is super thick – almost like a yogurt – and the flavor is doughy from the raw oats!

IMG_9658-2Blog

And Cville Cluster is absolutely amazing!

IMG_9656-2Blog

Served with tea!

Today it’s supposed to rain but be warm. So far I just see rain – no warmth present!

That chalk board will come in handy. I like the reclaimed wood idea.
As for the smoothie – another mouth watering, easy recipe. Good way to start the day.
Hope the rain holds off for you.
And… happy birthday to the birthday girl(s) 🙂

A good barter can be much more satisfying than cash payments. We’ve worked out a system with our downstairs neighbors: an evening of babysitting in exchange for some high quality garden goods — super convenient for us with them so close and yummy food for them!

What a neat chalkboard! I love the rustic wood frame.

Those oats sound fabulous. I bet that would be awesome with peanut flour too. Breakfast tomorrow! 🙂

Mmm! I’ve been making dough boy smoothies as afternoon snacks recently. My favorite combo so far is carrot cake: dough boy base/bananas/few baby carrots/ cinnamon/ vanilla.

Side note: I love seeing the ‘RD ME’ pic when I scroll down the page. All the links down the side are just little snap shots into your life. 🙂

I’ve got oats soaking on the counter right now! I’m actually trying to grow some good bacteria in it and turn it into an “oat yogurt.” I tried it with oat bran but the texture was too chewy so I’m hoping the soaked oats make it more creamy like you described. Can’t wait!

It is raining today and very dreary!

When I woke up early this morning to make a sandwich for my husband to take to work, I was shivering so bad that I made it really quick, and jumped back in bed to get warm and go back to sleep. Ever since I became pregnant, I get cold so easily, and sometimes shiver uncontrollably.

I made a dough boy ONE time last fall, and was all excited about it, but it wasn’t too great. BUT, that was before I had my Vitamix. Maybe if I try it out again in there, it will be better. The old Cuisinart blender I had just wasn’t cutting it.
