Open Mic

Two days in a row of microphone talk!

IMG_9663-2Blog

Today’s event with the inaugural Cville Food Bloggers Round Table hosted by Cville Connect. My friend Mike is starting a podcast all about food, and we kicked it off today with Bella Eats, Gracefulfitness and The Diner Of Cville!

IMG_9664-2Blog

I was nervous getting going, but once we started talking, we found ourselves in a time warp and covered 50 minutes of conversation no problemo. The podcast will be available on Monday, and I’ll share with you – it’s more food + food scene than Cville specific, so I think every foodie would enjoy listening.

2012-04-26 13.15.17Blog2012-04-26 13.15.27Blog

Earlier this morning, I did the Synergy workout of my Expecting More DVD [note that they sent me a freebie to review on BERF – now that I’ve done 3/6 workouts, I’ll be writing a recap review thus far soon]. This was an hour workout of both cardio + strength and I really enjoyed it. I’m missing Body Pump tomorrow for a nutrition event, so it was great to get in my strength a day early.

No weights? No problem! Just use horseshoes!

2012-04-26 11.05.13Blog

They were the perfect weight! But Faith said she would let me borrow some of her free weights from her studio so I could prevent clanking injuries!

After my workout and a shower, I packed up some almonds and a string cheese to bring to the podcast in case I got hungry. I nibbled on half of the almonds but am saving the string cheese for later. I didn’t think how inconvenient it would be to eat string cheese and talk at the same time : ) That might create some kind of string cheese incident…

IMG_9662-2Blog

Once back home, I was ready for lunch! My hunger levels were right on, but for some reason I rushed through this salad and ate it way too fast! Probably just because it was so good.

I can’t WAIT to hear this!!! I came up with the idea on a run like 6 months ago…going to be so awesome to hear it come to fruition! 😀

I’ve been trying to come up with some great mocktails for the summer…I’m not a huge drinker generally, but the social aspect of it while camping is I think what I will miss over my pregnant-summer this year…
Need something with a little fizz so I can partake in the cocktail hours!

    Hi Kath!

So my parents are currently vacationing in Virginia, and I told them that if they go to Charlottesville they have to stop at the Great Harvest Bread Co. to take a picture of my favorite blog writer’s bakery. Well they just informed me that they are in Cville today, and that they stopped at your bakery for lunch! My mom said that she talked to Karen for quite a while! I was so excited when my mom told me this, and I can’t wait to see their pictures! It’ll be so neat to see them at your bakery, because I’ve been following your blog for over a year and a half! I only wish that I could have been there with them-I hope I can visit one day too!

Have you ever tried Ellen Barrett’s workout DVDs? They’re low impact and include a lot of pilates and yoga elements, but you still get a really good cardio and strength workout. I think they’re awesome, specifically some of her newer ones (“The Studio” and “Live” series), and I think they’d be great for someone who’s pregnant.

That salad looks amazing, btw… I’m craving hard boiled eggs!
