"Saturday" Continued

Greetings 🙂

The morning was successful. After getting some stuff done, we finally made it to the gym around 11:30. Luckily the weather held up and we were able to bike there, but it’s pouring now!! I spent some time on the ET with a good magazine and then we met up for some pull-ups and dips.

You know how I’ve been raving about Mrs. Meyers All-Purpose cleaner? Well I discovered it works really well on our hardwood floors. It’s designed for all surfaces, so it is so nice to have 1 cleaner for the whole house in 1 spray bottle. One reason I HATE cleaning our floors is that I hate getting out the bucket, moving all the furniture, using the vinegar, waiting for it to dry, using the OrangeGlo, waiting for it to dry. It takes like 30-45 minutes. But I discovered that the Mrs. Meyers works just as well as those two (at least for weekly cleanings – I’ll still use the distilled vinegar/move furniture once a month). I’m happy that I can just wet my O-Mop, spritz the floor and be done in 5 minutes. Sweet!

For lunch I decided to have half a turkey + cheese sandwich with some tasty sides. This was 1 slice of Applegate Farm’s Herb Roasted Turkey with some mustard, Parrano cheese and jalapenos under the broiler for a few.

Plus I had a side salad made with CSA mystery greens, some pear (that’s the husband’s handiwork!) and Karen’s lemon dressing (I’m going to get her recipe for this soon).

And a delicious yogurt-granola-pear parfait topped with TJ’s Pumpkin Butter, which is great. It’s just like pumpkin jam. This was the TJ’s European yogurt. I liked it a lot, but nothing compared to the thickness of greek yogurt. But this kind was thick and tangy. It reminded me of the Emmi brand swiss yogurt I used to buy at the Fresh Market. This European was DEFINITELY better than your average plain yogurt. For the cost, I’d say it’ll be a supplement to our greek supply in the future.

The husband, it being a “Saturday” and all, made a huge bowl of dessert. And I found a little sampling in my empty parfait glass!

We are planning to go to the movie after dinner instead of this afternoon. And I think we’re going to sneak in some wine! Until then, I’ve got to buckle down and get some studying done 😥

Danielle shared this great video on women’s body image this morning. Check it out. Not only does it have a good message, but I LOVE how creative it is with the visual and music.

I am definitely going to take your tip on Mrs Meyer’s AP cleaner, thanks! Good to see you and the husband are enjoying your Saturday!!

I loved that video too by the way – such an important message! We hear so much about diseases in the US that we can contribute money to so that scientists can do research, but this is something where WE can actively help fix the problem. Our words to our daughters/sisters/mothers/friends and our attitude toward our bodies can and WILL made a difference!

What an amazing video! I am going to share that with my fitness classes today. I am going to make them look in the mirror and say what they like about themselves! Because you know most of us never do that!

I’m so glad that video is getting around! Tri Delta is my sorority (the group who made the video) so I received the email earlier this week through an email and have passed it around to everyone!

I am glad the video is making it around, too! I am also a Tri Delta and am so proud that Delta Delta Delta is making a stand against this dangerous and destructive behavior that is taught to women. Thanks, Kath, for passing it along! Enjoy your weekend.

Just curious kath, what do you use for dusting? Just a microfiber cloth or something or also a cleaning spray?

ooh, i LOVE emmi yogurts (yes, even more than greek!) so i bet i would love the TJ’s european.

probably a naive cleaning question (josh is in charge of FLOOR DUTY at our house!): what’s an O-MOP?

it’s gwen. we went to school together and I just wanted to tell you that I have really enjoyed reading your blog. I finished grad school about two weeks ago, and I am looking for a job. Your website has been great inspiration and procrastination during the search.

    Love your mini dessert cocktail!

Hopefully Matt is catching up on his rest!

So I found this website where you can “yearbook” yourself into different time periods and I am giving you yourself in the early 90’s!!!

I thought this was sooo funny and I thought I’d give you a little laugh in between studying!

    Maggie ,
I just use a Swiffer Duster. Always does the trick.

    rhodeygirl ,
Tomorrow is Saturday for me, but Monday for him 🙁

    sarah ,
Haha – lucky you! O-Mop is Method brand’s microfiber mop. Kind of like a wetjet but the pad is washable and there’s no liquid to squirt so you have to find your own (or buy Method’s).

    gwen ,
Hi!!! Good to hear from you. Congrats on finishing up school, and thanks for stopping by 🙂

    Erin ,
LOL!! If you want to really know what I was like in the 90’s, check out the slideshow from our wedding DVD, particularly the photo of me sitting on the pink couch!
