salad soup

Take XVII.

IMG_7673Blog

Until I get the craving for a leafy, crunchy, Hugh Jass salad, I imagine there will be a lot of smoothies for lunch. It’s the easiest way for me to get in 2 cups of greens!

IMG_7672Blog

Today’s mix was a blend of baby spinach, milk, greek yogurt, and frozen berries.

Got my greens, calcium, protein, and fruit all in one!

Plus Uncle Sam and some chocolate coconut butter magic shell on top! Fats accounted for too 😉

This is a new choco coconut butter OpenSky sent – it’s quite delicious and even creamier than Cacao Bliss!

IMG_7677Blog

And come with two partners – a Resee’s like simple-ingredient peanut butter and a crunchy hazelnut butter! AND these adorable jars to reuse after it’s all gone : )

IMG_7678Blog

IMG_7671Blog

On the side I had a toasted slice of Stout and Gouda bread with a little butter on top. This bread is so bacony from the smoked gouda yet no meat is involved!

Shout out to my pregnant Body Pumpers!!! Lynsie’s due date is TODAY and she was having contractions during class (and managed to do it all!) and Kirsten is 32 weeks along! They make my bump invisible 🙂

Smoothies are a great way to get in green veggies, and soooo delicious, especially with all those toppings! It’s super warm here in Chicago and it’s giving me a bit of a smoothie craving! Not sure I’m ready to give up my oats though!

Enjoy your porch – I’m stuck inside the school library today and would loooove to be outside or on a beautiful porch like yours instead.

PS Meant to ask, does the bread taste cheesy? I’m generally not a fan of cheese at all, but that bread sounds really intriguing. I’m wondering if the Great Harvest near my parents’ house has it…

Woo go Lynsie! Good for her! Also, I too have been in the “smoothie to get greens in” mode. Even though i’ve been able to stomach dark greens for a while, being able to get them down, and choosing them are two different things. They are never the first things I reach for, and finishing a salad is a chore. I think it has to do with my body’s desire for all of the simple carbs I had during my first tri.

LOVE it!! Y’all are so cute at Pump. Way to go Lynsie for pumping through contractions. One of our instructors was due last Wednesday and showed up to her usual Sunday class as a participant…still pregnant. She said, “I have been doing everything I can think of to get this baby out, but she wants to stay put! I simply can’t sit at home and wait any longer!!!”

I timed my hairdresser’s contractions last week as she colored and cut my hair. I promised if she got to the end of my appt I would drive her to the hospital which is a block from my house.

She made it thru, the closest contraction being 8 minutes apart, but gave birth 6 hours later!

I’m puzzled by these nut butters. I’m Tasmanian and fail to understand the link between a choc-coconut butter and my home state. Being a cool temperate environment we don’t grow coconuts or coaca, although there is a teeny tiny hazelnut industry down here. Tasmania is all about fine cheeses, wine and fresh berries and seafood! They are cute jars though!

Maybe it has to do with the Looney Tunes character?

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_Devil_(Looney_Tunes)

      I have no idea otherwise!

Maybe. Problem is that tassie devils primarily eat carrion i.e. rotting flesh. I think The Tasmanian should have done a bit of research into it if that’s where they got their name from!
