Rainbow Of Butters

Do you know what the most beautiful thing in my day is? [Other than the sunrise when I bike in to work everyday…]

IMG_1370 (640x427)

My jar of Sharpies. Everyday when I come to work I think about how wonderful that $16 investment was. LOVE the rainbow!

IMG_1373 (640x427)

I also love my Polka dot tin from IKEA that I put my Sharpie pens in. My favorite pens!

IMG_1371 (640x427)

Together they are so cute and colorful that they really make our office the office of my dreams!

IMG_1369 (640x427)

IMG_1374 (640x427)

I did payroll this morning, which was easier than I thought it would be. Especially enjoyed with a cup of coffee!

IMG_1366 (640x427)

Allie left me this surprise in the office!! An empty jar and Savannah bar crumbles. Fortunately I was able to resist the SBs since I had just brushed my teeth when I found them, but they might turn into an afternoon snack. Fruit + whole grains are healthy after all! Sugar or no sugar

Winking smile this !

IMG_1368 (640x427)

We also made a sandwich sign on our new Etsy Chalkboard. Hoping this brought in some of the crazy sandwich traffic we experienced at 12:30!

IMG_1367 (640x427)

When things had calmed down at 1:30 I had a sandwich. I’ve been alternating GH sandwich and home salad for lunch and it’s working out really well.

IMG_1375 (640x427)

Right when I sat down though I was interrupted by a massive order from Naturally Nutty!!! I had to help the delivery guy, unload and get everything inside before lunch. Hungry!!

IMG_1382 (640x427)

Everything is now back in stock – including the new Pepita Sun Butter!!!

IMG_1383 (640x427)

Rosemary made me a killer Monticello Garden with our lemony hummus and kalamata olives

IMG_1378 (640x427)IMG_1380 (640x427)

Pikals = side salad!

IMG_1381 (640x427)IMG_1376 (640x427)

I sampled the Pepita Sun Butter for dessert. It’s awesome!!! Get it before it’s gone!

Cheers guys!

Sounds good. I love having a set of colorful pens and markers. I love my Staedtler pens that I bought with a gift card from Staples a few years back. They’re lovely.

Does that pepita butter have added sugar? I love Trader Joe’s sunflower seed butter, but I am looking into seed butters that don’t have added sugar, like tahini. Thanks!

Have you tried Nuts 2 To You Nut Butter? They have a Sunflower Seed butter I get all the time with just the ground seeds and nothing else added. I think it’s only available in Canada though! I don’t even think the owners have a website…they’re that locally grown 😉 – but you may be able to order it online. Don’t know if it’s worth your money to order though but an option – it’s worth it. I love it with apple butter on bread….or off the spoon of course. Ahem.

Viki – you obviously have good taste.

It’s a small company based in Paris, Ontario – started by two ‘old-timer’ men. They don’t do any marketing via internet or website at all! It’s weird because they could be so big really. But they deliver to all the major supermarkets and health food stores here as well.

And – I’m not going to lie…I may have totally phoned them one day and left a voice message asking if they’d hire me to like can nut butters or something…it was probably their home phone! Hah. Never heard back from them – they probably thought I was nuts. Can’t blame them. Desperate measures.

So I just wanted to tell you about something we did at the store I work at, a Fair Trade non-profit. For, oh, 18 years we had a printed Open sign on the door. A year ago, our ED bought a neon sign at Costco on a whim. We saw a HUGE traffic flow increase. We even had customers say, oh, I was driving by and saw you were open. I know GH is a HUGE network of resources, I just wanted to share that little tid bit, shopkeeper to shopkeeper 😉

I know! I think that ours is actually LED, which we feel better about. It’s sort of interesting, but I guess some folks are just too shy to pull in and see if you are in fact open. Plus there’s some sort of psychological effect that happens when you see an open sign. “Oh you’re open. I should go in there” 🙂

I love unpacking shipments. Of course, the ones I find on my desk only nourish the mind – they’re books. Real food would be good, too.

Since I am SURE that you LOVE when your readers share their GH stories…..I went to my local GH today-Rockford, IL to pick up a loaf of Honey WW for the week , and tried some new things! First of all, my 1 year old was so cute eating his bites of our slice of extreme cinnamon that girl at the counter gave us a second one because he ate his half so darn fast! Jack is a budding foodie, and he kept saying, “Mmm…” and “Yum!”after each bite. I also tried a sample of the brownie. OH MY! I can see why Allie likes them so much. It was literally the best brownie, I’ve ever eaten. It’s warm outside today and by the time I got to the car the chips had a melty-ness to them.
Last week when I was there, I saw the granola displays and thought of your secret Linda’s granola. Our store had two kinds: Groovy Granola and Snackin’ Granola. This time I got some Snackin’ granola to try (which I am currently munching on!) Can we say HUGE clusters-YUM! I am going to have to hide this from my husband because it could very well be gone in 1 sitting.

We’re planning a trip to Carter Mountain (from Richmond) to pick peaches in July and plan to stop by and try some of your fabulous GH bread, but I also really hope you have some Naturally Nutty in stock when we come because I love that stuff! The pumpkin seed butter is my favorite ; )

love the little things in life too. I find when I’m waitressing (=super busy and basically running for 4 hours straight) I don’t even think of food (well for my self at least, not the customers). Then once I finally get a minute to breathe the hunger monster hits hard! But it’s actually amazing how much longer you can go without food than you think when your mind is completely occupied. The sandwich looks great though and definitely worth taking a break for!
