Dinner, Virtually

Things picked up a bit at the bakery today. Having all of our nut butters in stock makes me happy!! We’re also working on quite a bit of organization and that makes me happy too. We bought a new $160 rack today and filled it with boxes that were once just spewed about. Soon enough we’ll have an employee table and a tip-top shape shop!

I biked home at 7PM just in time for a wonderful dinner event

A virtual wine tasting with Campo Viejo!

IMG_1386Blog

Matt had been up since 3AM – and he still wanted to participate. That’s saying a lot!

We cracked open the wines and logged into the site and got to tasting. Broken cork – no big deal! Must be the fact that this bottle was from 2003!!!!!!!! We were still boyfriend and girlfriend in college then!

IMG_1403BlogIMG_1402BlogIMG_1404Blog

To go with our tasting, of course we made dinner. Matt picked greens in the garden while I fried up some eggs. We paired them with an aged cheese Karen left here last week, red pepper, carrots, lavender salt and Dr. Pete’s Lemon Pear Dressing.

IMG_1390BlogIMG_1392Blog

Simple dinner ready in no time

IMG_1393Blog

The virtual tasting was so fun!! It was really like we were in the room with the winemaker, Roberto, who was sitting in Aspen, Colorado in front of a cracklin’ fire.

IMG_1401Blog

The wines were amazing. I loved them all! They went from light to dark, 2007, 2006 & 2003.

IMG_1400Blog

If you want all the tasting notes, visit the Campo Viejo website. All I have to say is that they were all positively delicios and that my favorite was the Reserva (the middle one) because it was oaky, vanilla, coconut and fruity all in one. Can’t go wrong with that combo. It was a bit like the 3 Bears – the first was light, the last was dark and the middle was juuuust right.

IMG_1399Blog

Matt and I loved the tasting and chatting with the other bloggers. I only fear I’ve had a little too much to drink for a school work night!

Ooooh I’m so glad you had Spanish wine. I’m sure you know this (as you’re a connosseiur), but the Spanish wine industry classifies their wines by the amount of time spent in the barrels. It goes from “joven” (“young”), to crianza, to reserva, to gran reserva. They even have a highly dramatic TV show called Gran Reserva. I’m glad you liked it!! I love Spanish wine.
