Hug The Blueberries

Happy AM!

Happy Friday!

Happy morning off!

IMG_1436Blog

Last night might have seemed wild [especially with my killer typo at the end ; ) ] but it was actually pretty tame. I woke up with a smile at 6:26 and came down to a killer Dough Boy Smoothie!

IMG_1434Blog

In the blender was 1 cup of milk, 1/3 cup oats, 1 small ripe banana, 1 tbps chia seeds and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I put those together last night, gave them a stir and blended this morning. No yogurt today (didn’t want to open a new tub) and it tasted juuuuust fine.

On top I put bluebs, buckwheat, and crumbled raw granola I’m trying out for OpenSky

IMG_1442Blog

IMG_1429Blog

All I gotta say is that clusters rule! The texture of this SIAB was awesome!!

IMG_1433Blog

Also, can you see how the blueberries kind of get hugged by the smoothie? This is my favorite smoothie thickness! I don’t like them too liquidy or icy – I like them smooth, fluffy and pillowy and thick enough for toppings to float!

IMG_1440Blog

IMG_1443Blog

I’m doing both of our laundry, and working a few things at home. Then I’m pumpkin pumping, showering at the gym and sending Matt home for a rest while I take over the afternoon.

Matt’s fraternity brother Dallas is getting married tomorrow!! We have friends coming to town and are hoping to meet up with them after work today. Yippee! It’s only too bad Matt has to bake sweets tomorrow, which means a 3AM alarm clock.

See you again beary soon!

Your typo at the end of that other post was great…I loved it. It just showed that you have a life, and that to err (and drink wine) is totally human…and great 🙂

The granola in this post…mmm, good! And all those bloobs. Love it!

Sounds like your weekend is going to be hectic and fun…as per usual 🙂

I’m still envious of your virtual event, but I did manage to get a tasting of my own in. 🙂

Blueberries are fantastic right now. Our local WF is selling them for $1.99 today!

$1.99? Wish I could head there!

I was just going to ask if you knew of any GF Granolas – and then I scrolled down and seen that! Exciting – I love Nature’s Path Hemp and Flax granolas but never see any alternatives. And the flaky cereals don’t cut it.

I also like that texture for smoothies — just thick enough to hold the toppings but not so thick that it tastes like sludge.

Not to pick on you, but shouldn’t it be “berry soon” since you’re writing about blueberries? 🙂

It is a happy Friday morning here. Love the floating toppings. I totally agree with you on the thickness making such a difference. Enjoy your morning off even if it involves doing laundry. Sounds like you have some fun to look forward to this evening. Boo on the 3 AM alarm clock. My internal alarm clock seems to be set somewhere between 3 and 4 lately and I don’t need to be up that early! Maybe I should get a job at our local GH!

I had a SIAB this morning, and totally agree regarding the pillowy texture – sometimes I get mine too icy, sometimes too liquid. But today it was just right.

🙂 I am going to keep an eye out for the granola, as I recall they do not use cane sugar to sweeten it, plus it is gluten-free and vegan 🙂

Same room (same bed!) His alarm goes off and he gets up pretty quickly and goes to the shower. He puts all of his clothes in our guest room to get dressed in there and that helps tremendously! I barely even notice him anymore.

Hi Kath, I wanted to ask about the buckwheat on your smoothie. Are those just straight up raw buckwheat groats? If so, you don’t find them too tough to chew?

Buckwheat is crunchy raw, so it’s not tough. These were toasted though, which makes them have more flavor and more crunch
