D’oh!

Remember this smoothie made from cooked oatmeal?

And this SIAB heavy on the raw oats?

BLOG-9874 this !

Both were incredibly DOUGHY and I haven’t stopped thinking about them!

Last night I had the idea to combine the doughiness of overnight oats with a smoothie – to create a doughy smoothie!

I made it right in my Vita-mix and then put the whole thing in the fridge to soak. Then this morning, I blended up the overnight oats…

Dough Boy Smoothie

I've made smoothies before from cooked oatmeal and lots of raw oats that were incredibly DOUGHY and I haven’t stopped thinking about them!
Then I had the idea to combine the doughiness of overnight oats with a smoothie – to create a doughy smoothie!
I made it right in my Vita-mix and then put the whole thing in the fridge to soak. Then in the morning, I blended up the overnight oats…into a dough boy smoothie!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 banana
  • Sprinkle cinnamon
  • Splash vanilla
  • Pinch kosher salt

Instructions

  • Combine all into a blender, stir and put in fridge overnight. In the morning, add about 1/4 cup more milk (just to loosen things up) and whirl away. Top with favorites!

I added Hail Merry Orange Cinnamon Grawnola – which was AMAZING combined with the slight cinnamony smoothie. Plus a to-go packet of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter, which drizzled on very nicely, and coconut.

I’m gradually cutting back on coffee in anticipation for the warm spring day when I say “Enough!” It always happens!

Busy day ahead. Tomorrow we are leaving on our FINAL Great Harvest training trip – this one to the Columbia, MD bakery to learn + observe with the awesome sister pair of owners! The week ends with a visit to my grandmother in Towson, along with mom, sister and Matt! After this trip we have no plans of traveling until the cows come home!

What a delicious looking breakfast – and I love that there isn’t much cleanup!

I don’t drink coffee but haven’t had a cup of tea since Saturday – kicking the caffeine habit is not easy.

Sounds like you have a great trip coming up – it is so nice to be able to spend time with family.

DUDE, that’s a brillant idea!! I’ve been eating overnight oats every single day for about a month now…I’m just so infatuated at the moment. But blending them up sounds like a fun change….if only I had a vitamixer.
