Porch Party

After a quick visit to the bakery to pick up some leftovers…a lovely 3 mile walk..

tmp_share

We brought out a boat-load of leftovers…

IMG_1562Blog

… and had a party on the new porch! It’s 70* outside and feels like we’re at a beach cottage!! Absolutely LOVE the new room added to our house!

FamilyporchBlog

Our group made plates to suit their fancy: sandwiches for the men, tasting plates for mom + larbs, and salads topped with the good stuff for Karen and me

IMG_1564Blog

The cranberry sauce was my favorite part!

IMG_1565Blog

I had tastes of Larbs’ chocolate pumpkin pie and mom’s pumpkin chiffon for dessert – yum!

IMG_1574Blog

We’re chillaxin’ for a bit and then setting out on our family hike

We had a cranberry sauce with orange + dried cherries that was to die for – and I don’t even LIKE cranberry sauce! And I have made your mom’s recipe for pumpkin chiffon before – it’s to die for! Enjoy your beachy weather! 🙂

I never thought of using it as a salad topper – delish. It can be a sweet alternative to salsa 🙂

Kath, it looks like your home is going to be the “go-to” house for family get-togethers!

Jealous of your cranberry on top of the salad. My husband made the leftover plate yesterday and he forgot the cranberry! Lunch was so sad without it 🙁

Oh I love this! And really nice job with the edit too. Having a photograph rather than a photoshopped collage is so much nicer. Just curious though, how did you get up above things to take the photo? Did you use a tripod or mount of some sort, or just get way up above to take the photo downward?

Sounds like a perfect day! It’s around 60 in Boston right now and sooooo nice. I was in NH for Thanksgiving and they got 10 inches of snow last week! So happy it was just rain where I live.

I love how traditional Thanksgiving foods make the PERFECT salad ingredients. My mom and I make a killer cornbread dressing (sweet/soft croutons, sort of), sweet potato soufflé topped with almonds (who doesn’t love sweet potatoes on a salad?), chunky cranberry sauce (hate the word “chunky” but love when it’s cranberries), and squash/zucchini/tomato pie. I hope to enjoy a few salads topped with those festive side dishes. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving weekend! Enjoy that awesome weather. I haven’t seen a single cloud in the sky (in Charleston, SC) for 2 whole days. Couldn’t ask for more! =)

Is the porch screened in? It looks like the sliding doors have so much space underneath that lots of bugs and mosquitoes could get in.
