Peanut Butterscotch Toffee Crunch Oatmeal!

Peanuts and toffee and crunch – oh my!

DSC07114

I woke up a little dehydrated today, but nothing a few chugs of water couldn’t fix. I am so glad I wasn’t feeling the drudges of alcohol

 this !

We started the relaxing morning with coffee and oats. I can’t believe it’s a Friday because it sure feels like Saturday!

The mixture:

  • 1/3 cup oats, soy milk, water, 1 medium ripe banana, 1 tbsp raisins, pinch saltDSC07109
  • 1/4 cup Kashi Crunch Honey Almond Flax
  • 1/2 tbsp toffee pieces
  • 1/2 tbsp butterscotch chips
  • Spoonful Smucker’s Natural (salty to contrast the sweet)

Divine!!

DSC07113

Much better than yesterday ….

DSC07110

I am sprinting out the door as we speak – I’ve got the urge to run because I saw the SUN for the first time in 3 days peek out of the clouds!!!

Does Barney Butter need stirred because of oil separation or is it a no-stir nut butter? Thanks!

Have a great run, Kath! We had an ice storm here last night and it’s freezin’!! All schools are closed and it’s a winter wonderland out there. Send me some sun! 😉

Yummmmmmmmy oats, girl. Holy moly. My bowl was just oats with sliced nana today… I’m jealous.

i discovered your blog a few weeks ago and have continuously been tempted to make an oatmeal creation myself… but i never eat oatmeal, so i never tried!
but today, for lunch (not breakfast!) i decided to try. i used bananas, nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon and some natural pb… and wow.
now i understand! there will be much more where that came from!

I was wondering if you aimed to drink a certain amount of water everyday, you never really take pictures of water in the winter and I didn’t know if you just didn’t take pictures of it when you drank water. I have a hard time staying hydrated so I was curious.

    RunnerGirl ,
    It’s a no-stir kind.

    Allison K,
    Hahaha!

    janna ,
    Another convert!

    RachelD ,
No, I am not the best about water. I do try to drink at least 24 oz during my workout so that will be guaranteed hydration but on days when I run or don’t workout, I do miss out on that. In the winter I drink a ton of hot tea (probably 2-3 cups per day) that I don’t always put on the blog because it’s just plain tea in water. That certainly does count towards hydration. Everything I have read just recommends drinking when you’re thirsty and that should be sufficient, and that aiming for a certain number of cups or liters a day is overrated.

Do you measure out 1/3c of oats dry beforehand or is that cooked?

    Kelsey,
That’s dry oats. I have a little 1/3 cup scoop that I use for equal parts oats, milk + water.
