Park + Ride

Having a great day! I love it when the weather is nice and we can conduct all of our meetings on our bikes. We went to the bakery for the first of THREE trips downtown today. Lucky us we can do them all on bike! So much more fun [and green] than driving.

My cereal breakfast held me over about 4 hours – which I think is pretty good! Matt’s didn’t because he left out the fat (so he said!) and forgot flax and peanut butter.

Here is a preview of our LIGHTS!!!!!! We picked them out – industrial pendants – and I love them!! They’ll go all the way down when all are installed:

We have 2 chandeliers that go on each end:

IMG_1046Blog

Paint color!! Love the warm neutral!

And the punch of orange

IMG_1049Blog-2

After our meeting we actually ran 3.7 miles in the bakery’s neighborhood (where we’d like to buy a house someday!) It was a great quick run! Then we biked home to refuel and rest before we head out to meet a member of the Local Food Hub.

I had some leftover sardines with some Terra chips – Sweet potato ruffle!

IMG_6696Blog

Plus an arugula fluff salad drizzled in honey and topped with sprouts

IMG_6694Blog

These little bean sprouts (adzuki, pea and one other bean) are very earthy and kind of spongy – they don’t taste awesome. But they provide awesome texture (and nutrients!) and were fabulous with the sweet honey drizzle

And Cinnamon Chip with hummus for dessert 🙂

It was a lot of food – I almost got too full, but then I took a break and went back for the rest : )

Guess what – KERF IS NOW MOBILE!!!!!

image

I’ve created a mobile app that pushes my posts in so you don’t have to view through the browser. There are also alerts you can enable to tell you exactly when a new post is published! (You can turn them off if you want).

How fun that the blog has it’s own little app icon <3 image

It’s only for Android right now [download it here] but iPhone is also in the works. As far as I can tell, the only con is that you can’t comment from the app or link directly to my post to comment. So I hope if you use it you will still leave me comments!

And we’re off…

Your app is so cool Kath! I can’t wait till the iPhone version comes out. I tried adzuki beans for the first time last week and I absolutely loved them!! The texture was different from other beans and I’m totally going to incorporate them in my salads more often. Haven’t tried the sprouts though – your salad looks great!

Kath, the bakery is looking great! Fun lights!

Long winded question for you: I’ve been wanting to know for a while: when you say ‘i designed an app’ or when you reconfigure your blog or something, are you doing the html coding and such? I would LOVE an entire post (or series of them) on how one grows their blog technically. I mean, I don’t know the first thing about html so should I be taking classes and learn how to design and code my own blog so that I can switch over OR does it make more sense from your point of view to just research and find someone who is a good designer/coder/web guru to help make the move and design your blog as you wish?

      Hey Lauren,
I didn’t design it myself! There’s a company that did it for me. I have done all the CSS coding on my site, but thanks to ready-built THEMES I didn’t design it from scratch. It’s more like just picking out the pattern for a sofa you’re going to buy. Everything I know is from Google and the WordPress forums, plus a little extra help from friends.

Your lunch colors matched the colors of your bakery, how fun! Those lights are beautiful 🙂

Congratulations Kath and Matt. The space looks fabulous! Can’t wait to see it finished and I wish it were in my neighborhood.

I can’t believe you have an app. Such a technological sign of success! Can’t wait until you have one for iPhone.

That app is cool! Congrats on that. It’s really annoying that apps don’t include comments, though. That’s why I recently started using RSSOwl; it loads the WHOLE blog, comments and all! No clicking through. <3 it!

That orange is quite bold! I am surprised you picked that color.

Love the orange! Orange stimulates and increases appetite, we used it in our old restaurant. Perfect choice for a bakery…although my eyes are usually closed once I enter a bakery and my nose is busy inhaling!

Omg… I need to find those ruffled chips. May I ask what brand they are? I’m sure you’ve mentioned already, but I can’t find it! *sad face*

ooh, one more question! What are your favorite sardine brands/flavors?

Heh, k – I think I’m done now. Thanks Kath!

      They’re Terra brand.

And I like any kind of smoked herring or sardines, esp. Trader jOe’s brand
