Open Faced

Reunited with Sarah! She helped introduce us to Cville last year when we moved and then moved away herself. She’s back for a wedding and came into to the bakery for a little “ooohing” and “ahhhing.” She loved the granola and Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter!

IMG_1038 (427x640)

I finally broke for lunch after lots of Quickbooks and lots of bread serving!

IMG_1040 (640x427)

Pesto, hummus, lettuce, cucumber, green pepper, and olives on an open-faced High Five!

IMG_1042 (640x427)

Pikal.

IMG_1043 (640x427)

Stone fruit fun!

IMG_1044 (640x427)

And a sparkling water. I feel bad stealing one from myself everyday. We need a keg of sparkles here in the bakery!!

IMG_1045 (640x427)

Going to have one bite of something sweet to finish out lunch – then back to work!!

Kath, I’m curious: are you taking into account the beverages and food that you (and other staff) eat while on the job? When I worked at a pseudo-restaurant, my employer deducted $0.20/hour worked and then we were permitted to consume up to ~$12/day of the pseudo-restaurant’s food. When we wanted food, it was rung in at the cash register so it could be taken into account in the books.

Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter–You sell this at your store, right? I assume you buy from a vendor, but do they sell this at regular stores? Do you do Open Sky deals on that? I’ve never done the Open Sky and am curious as to how it works.
Thanks! Everything always looks so good! Makes my want to road trip!

Also – major kudos to you for keeping up with your healthy eating during this busy time. I always seem to get overwhelmed and make poor choices but am inspired by you and know that if I can work hard enough at it that it will become second nature to me.

The *only* complaint (teeny-tiny) I have about it is that the bottles cannot be washed in the dishwasher. I understand why, and am fine washing them by hand. (But otherwise I’m a ‘throw everything into the dishwasher kind of gal!’). 🙂

My boyfriend and I are taking a weekend camping trip near C-Ville and I’d love to stop by Great Harvest on Saturday to meet you and Matt (and get some of your delicious bread, obviously!) Is there a time you’d recommend we stop by? I know you guys are SUPER busy and I’d understand if you don’t have time to socialize.

Others beat me to it, but I highly recommend getting a Sodastream! I’m sure you’ve seen them before, but it is so easy–just fill the bottle with tap water, twist onto the machine, press the button a few times to carbonate the water, and voila! I work at a small kitchen store that sells them, and also own one myself so I can say with confidence that it is totally worth the upfront cost, then costs just pennies to make, and ultimately prevents throwing away/recycling all those plastic bottles. Awesome!
