Make Your Own Kind Of Music

LOST watchers will appreciate this song!!!

I am obsessed and listened to it on repeat about 100x today. [Just ask Matt ;)]

The lyrics are so true though – make your own music and sing your own special song…ev-en if nobody else sings along. It’s a great life lesson for us all in every industry!

Afternoon popsicle to celebrate hitting 60* outside.

They say keys to handling morning sickness are to eat every 2 hours, stay hydrated and never let your blood sugar drop. I made a big mistake this afternoon and only had that popsicle (I wasn’t hungry) and then nausea hit me around dinnertime. Intuitive eating doesn’t work in this condition! I ended up having about 15 saltines before dinner and then this beverage:

IMG_6228Blog

The closest mock pina colada there is!

But I would have rather been drinking this IPA!

IMG_6229Blog

Do you see those green stalks????

IMG_6239Blog

I ATE THEM! Willingly and with passion. I have NO idea why asparagus is the only green veggie I like right now (other than Caesar salad..)

IMG_6235Blog

Matt got our grill on this evening!

IMG_6232Blog

I picked up some ribeye steak from the Organic Butcher this weekend. Protein and iron are two important things in pregnancy, and red meat is probably the best source of iron there is (bioavailability speaking). We hardly ever cook steaks around here, but this was good!

IMG_6236Blog

Toasty slice of Popeye bread on the side. Spinach = more iron! Ha!

IMG_6237Blog

IMG_6234Blog

Tapped into layer #2 of the chocolates – a few nibbles from each – for dessert!

IMG_6242Blog

We’re on a Lost-a-thon and smack in the middle of Season 3.

Mama Cass knows best!

Love the quote at the bottom!

As I new mom I am having the hardest time learning to manage my time. However, recently I discovered that I just have to be honest with myself about my new priorities and not feel guilty for them in the least. It will take lots of practice to adopt this new mindset, but will make me a better Mom, wife and person.

I did watch it all over again a second time, and having the luxury of watching episodes back to back, I couldn’t imagine how I ever waited for episodes every week! (The writer’s strike was the worst time!!)

We had roasted asparagus last night… yum. I have yet to have one moment of nausea this entire pregnancy and for that I feel soooo blessed. To make up for it though my ankles/feet are starting to swell BAD. Hope swelling doesn’t happen to you! Thankfully, I’m not in any pain but it sure makes wearing anything other than flip flops difficult. 🙂

I agree wholeheartedly with your above comment that a little bit of wine or other alcohol during pregnancy is fine.
Let’s put it this way…I had a small (3 oz.) glass several times during pregnancy, and my now-14 year old son just signed his course selection sheet for his sophomore year that includes 3 honors courses and 1 extra credit above and beyond what is required.
    You’ll be fine!
For the “greening” of your pregnancy, do you still tolerate avocado? Yummers…and good fat, too.

This study suggests a similar outcome – the women who drank lightly had the same or better behavioral + developmental outcomes:
      http://news.discovery.com/human/alcohol-drinking-pregnant-women.html

“But the study found no evidence that light drinking during pregnancy causes emotional or learning problems in children through the age of five. In some tests of vocabulary and pattern creation, boys actually did best if their moms drank a little while carrying them. The findings confirmed what the researchers had found when the kids were three years old.”

Not a reason to drink a bottle of wine at all, but I think we Americans can relax just a little
