Make Miles While The Sun Shines

I got home from Organic and noticed a huge ominous green blob moving toward Charlotte. Thinking ahead to my GOTR practice and plans to run afterwards combined with my Micro lab exam tonight, I decided to go out for a run ASAP. So since I was already dressed in workout clothes in preparation for this afternoon, I hit the road. I didn’t really have a plan, but I ended up doing about 5 miles. Sweet! Breakfast this morning did NOT hold me over well. My stomach was growling mid-run around 11:00. I’m pretty much a shower-a-holic and even though I showered this morning, I just couldn’t stand the thought of smelling and feeling sweaty for the rest of the day so I hopped in the shower with a bubble gum pink shower cap and rinsed off. Ahhhhh. It was a big step for me to not wash my hair, but I figured that was unnecessary.

Within 15 minutes of arriving home it started to RAIN! Good call on the run. I was starving for lunch at noon so I needed something filling and was feeling dreary so soup was the obvious choice. I thawed out our last portion of Cocoa-Coconut Chili. I don’t even remember what was in this except for the obvious so I searched for it on the blog to remember. It was good!!

I added more coconut and some pumpkin seeds for topping –

On the side I had a hunk of Great Harvest Dakota bread (with butter) and a few crackers for crunch –

The purple drink is some Crystal Light I found in the cabinet and added to my H2O

Continuing the cocoa theme….

I’m off to study nonstop for this exam until I head uptown for GOTR. I don’t know what we’ll do if it’s raining…hopefully the answer> isn’t “get wet.” I really don’t do well in rain 😳

    coco ,
You only need to know three things:

    1) Macro setting (the little flower)

    2) No flash

    3) Natural light.

    That’s it!

Hoping for your sake that you don’t get rained on!

    kath–
ive seen you mention “protein stomachs” and “carb stomachs”. could you explain this concept? I’ve noticed that oatmeal does not keep me satisfied for very long! i will put the same mix ins that you use, but the satiety effect is not the same.

peanut butter on ww (tj’s) english muffins works well for me…but i’d think this would have the same satiety effect as my oatmeal with pb.

    thanks for any input! rachel

I used to have a Hello Kitty Shower Cap when I was a kid! Now, I just put my hair in a bun on top of my head.

    Have a good afternoon.

    Ray,

You must have a different type then! I said this once: I think there are two types of stomachs in the world – those that like carbs + fiber and those that prefer protein. While protein always helps to keep my satisfied, I really need carbs + fiber for complete satiety. Some people like eggs for breakfast, other have to have the “full” feeling in their stomach that is better achieved with cereal/yogurt/oats.

    Amanda ,
45-50 minutes or so? It depends on the day!

    rhodeygirl ,
I think this is the only soup of hers I’ve tried.

    madison (follow my weigh),
    Thanks 🙂

    Angela ,
I manged to hold myself together. Thanks!

    nicole ,
Yup. they are Kashi Honey Sesame.

I ran in the rain yesterday and HATED it. I’ve never really run in the rain but I ended up cutting my run short because it started raining even harder while I was out. Squishy shoes do not make me happy. And my right contact lens was floating around in my eye so I was running with one eye closed. It was not fun.

At least my shoes dried out for my run this morning though 🙂

Where can I find the recipe to that chili? I followed the link to your previous post, but couldn’t find it. I’m assuming this was a cookbook recipe and not a fellow blogger?
