Love Over Food

5 years older, wiser and more in love!

And our last anniversary as a family of two!

Third Wedding Anniversary

Fourth Wedding Anniversary

I headed home from the bakery this afternoon absolutely exhausted. My mom reminded me: “you need to rest.”

So rest I did – 2 hours horizontal on the couch! Plus a short nap before we got ready for dinner.

If only Pumpkin could work a camera…

IMG_1593

Pumpkin has decided to move in this week. I think she misses her family [who are traveling] too much!

IMG_1601

Matt and I walked (~1.26 miles) to dinner tonight at l’etoile! It’s been on our list of restaurants to try for nearly two years now.

IMG_1602

We dined on the porch and had a really great experience – I felt like we could be back in Sonoma on our honeymoon!

IMG_1604

I drank a whole bottle of wine sparkling water to celebrate. Sparkling water from Greece > sparkling water from our basement. Matt sipped the good juice.

IMG_1603

Amuse bouche! Heirloom tomato, feta, basil, balsamic

IMG_1605

To start, I enjoyed this awesome kale salad. I loved that the kale was shaved – so much easier to eat! I said it was like slaw minus the gross cabbage : )

image

IMG_1607

Matt’s salad was equally as good – check out that goat cheese medallion!

image

IMG_1608

Palate cleansing bread with salty olive oil –

IMG_1606

For my entrée, I ordered the scallops

image

IMG_1612

They were totally delicious – and I loved the bed of mixed salady things they were served atop.

IMG_1610

Matt had the duck entrée. I’m not a huge duck fan, but the pureed beets mixed with the blue cheese and walnut salad was DIVINE!

IMG_1609

Of course I was dreaming of wedding cake for dessert, and we were excited to find a coconut cake on the menu!

Sadly this was the only part of our dinner that was a bit disappointing. The frosting was cream cheese and tasted nearly ALL cream cheese and the cake part was cold and a bit dense/dry, but of course it still tasted good!

IMG_1614

We enjoyed our stroll home and ran into Seamane and Rob who were out celebrating their 12th anniversary this weekend!

Again I say you make me, and I think everyone, want to try new foods. Everything looks good and I am sure that is an understatement I am sure.

Thank you for sharing your life with us and letting us live our food dreams through your pictures. YUM!

S/N: I have got moving again. 8+ miles in 2 days. about 1 hour of nice paced walking. Feels so good and refreshing. Thanks for motivating us all to want to live healthier lives without the need of dieting, but with the use of our imagination of what we can make with fresh food.

I totally agree with what you said! Since I’ve been visiting Kath’s site, I eat more vegatables and different grains that I hadn’t tried before. It is inspiring and refreshing to have somebody talk about how to eat and live more healthfully and how easy it can be to prepare a healthy meal and not refer to it as a “diet”! I love your journey…

On another note, I really liked the idea of the Kale-slaw. I’m not a big fan of the big pieces of Kale, but if it was shredded I may like it. I’m going to have to try a similar dish to the one you just tried. It sounded amazing!

This might be a dumb question, but how would you shave the kale to make a salad like you had?

I’m not really sure how to shave it – but I’d think maybe a food processor? Or you could just cut it chiffonade style
