Love Letters

IMG_1701 (1024x768)

June 25, 2002

Dear Koopa,

I’m starting this letter at 10:20 after you dropped me off. I took a small shower and then talked a little with my boys about what they did today. Malcolm went to King’s BBQ and we may go there on long night on Tuesday. I’ll see if he wants to, and you think about it and tell me in your letter tomorrow.

Wheeeeeeeeeeee! I had so much fun today and yesterday sweetie! The whole time I subconsciously felt like we were married…it was such a great feeling. I know we’ve talked about this before but I was just thinking how weird it is that you and I found each other so early in our lives…it makes me nervous and excited! I know that you and I can always work out our problems because we want to. You’re so forgiving of everything, and I feel so free with you. Just having your trust makes me never want to lose it…

I know that I can yield to you for your happiness and sometime soon you’ll do the same for me. I love you.

Love,

Kanzi

I am so lucky to have this huge stack of love letters saved from the summer we worked as camp counselors. It was the summer after our Freshman year, just 6 months or so since we started dating. I pulled them out last night to re-read some of the mush.

The bear drawings started early!

I also have a bunch of notes we wrote to each other during college –

IMG_1700 (1024x768)

Including some he wrote when I wasn’t in my room…

It’s really hard to believe that was 7 years ago and we actually did get married and here we are still in love!

Of course breakfast today had to involve hearts and red

this !

The highlight was this chocolate ganache heart that we made from the frozen ganche leftover from my birthday cake!

The Mix (in my new Homegoods bowl!) IMG_1686 (1024x768)

  • 1/3 cup oats, vanilla soy milk, water, half large banana, pinch salt,
  • Splash Amaretto ——->
  • 1 tbsp craisins
  • 1/2 tbsp ground flax
  • Coconut love
  • Almonds
  • Cherry + Ganache
  • Barney Butter on the spoon

Speaking of love, Angie at Losing It and Loving It gave me some Bloggy Love this morning!

We’ve got a TON to do today to prepare for our party tonight and rain to do it in

Hope you all have wonderful Valentine’s Days!

Those letters remind me of some that I’ve kept from my boyfriend (oh wait, fiance as of this past Monday!!!). We’ve been together nearly 7 years (since junior year of high school) and I can totally relate to this line in the hubby’s letter: “I was just thinking how weird it is that you and I found each other so early in our lives…it makes me nervous and excited! I know that you and I can always work out our problems because we want to.” We’ve thought about that multiple times!
I’ll hafta drag some of those old letters today…I have quite a few from high school!
    Happy Valentine’s Day! 😀

When you run your loops around neighborhoods you plan out, what do you take with you and how do you carry it? I do not feel comfortable running that far from home usually. Do you ever get nervous about something happening?

that is sooooo cute. you atre SO lucky to have those letters. I kind of wish I ‘saved’ some of the MANY IM conversations my husband and I had while were dating and I was away at college. but oh well, it is what it is!

You should think about scrapbooking those letters so you have them in one place easily displayed 🙂 Thats what I would do.

I do have a letter that we wrote to each other before we got married, that we only shared with the rabbi (which he gleaned his ceremony speech from), who then gave us the letters right after the ceremony when we were having our private moment 🙂 it will be scrapbooked into my wedding album!! can’t wait!

    sarahH ,
I don’t carry anything with me because our neighborhoods are very residential and public. I don’t run after dark and I generally see lots of other people out exercising. If I were to run on paths in the woods, I wouldn’t go without a partner (or would at the very least carry a cell phone or ID – probably in a zipped pocket).

    Sarah W,
A scrap book is a great idea. And I love your letter idea!

kath – i was reading the comments and saw sarahH’s comment about safety while running. i’ve been talking to a company called road ID lately and am about to do a giveaway on my blog. i recently purchased road ID dog tags, which i wear around my neck when i am running. the dog tags have my husband’s and my mom’s phone number. did you know if you are hit by a car or pass out while running, the paramedics legally cannot search your belongings to find ID? and if they cannot ID you, they will not give you any treatment beyond emergency medical care — no medication or surgery. i am only realizing now how important it is to keep emergency contacts on you at all times when exercising outside. i will let you know when the giveaway contest starts so maybe some of your readers like sarahH can enter.

    thanks!

Yes, I didn’t think about an accident. They should make iPods with the ID info on them – or in a file somehow like the ICE info for cell phones. I’ll be sure to enter the giveaway!

Just returned from another trip complete with scary plane ride. It is great to catch up on your blog. Your valentines day sounds like fun and the love letters are wonderful. Being with a chef means he gets out of Valentines Day dinner since he has to cook a special meal at his resturant.

I strongly second the road ID. I am getting a new one(the braclet). A couple of years ago I had a very bad bike crash going downhill. I dislocated my elbow and fractured my forearm. I was on my way to passing out from the pain but managed to tell ‘the chef’ my allergies. It was the one day I did not have my health insurance card on me 🙁 The road id makes it easy to just have all that information on you.

What beer is the Husband Brewing now?. We just tapped my Birthday Bock. It turned out pretty good.

    Have a great Valentines Day

The Husband must want to hang himself. It can be a very private thing for a man to express his love for his girlfriend or wife. The fact that you exposed that to your readers is in poor taste and doesn’t account for his feelings. I’d be embaressed if my wife pulled that one me to an audience of total strangers that should be something intimate and personal between you and him. So what if it’s Valentines Day and supposed to be sweet you compromise his personal feelings by showing complete strangers his love letters meant for you. Stay with the food.
