Jet Lagged, Pregnant & Hungry

IMG_2029

Boy last night was not good!! I stayed up reading until 12:30 because I was so wired. Then I was starving so I had a bowl of cereal. Then I finally fell asleep and woke up so uncomfortable I could hardly stand it. I missed my cool king size bed and those firm, long pillows I used to prop me up! Unfortunately I kept waking Matt up too, who told me to go drink juice. That worked!! But it was still a very restless night.

One COOL thing though was actually playing with the baby around 3am – his foot (or knee, or hand?) was RIGHT on the surface and we just kept poking back and forth!!

Both Matt and I slept in (as last as we could) this morning and then made oatmeal for my welcome home party. Pumpkin was invited to that and has not stop meowing since she saw me!!

Whipped banana oatmeal topped with Saint Cupcake Bakery granola (which is AWESOME!!!) and sunbutter. Long time, no love!

Doctor’s appointment and yoga today, among 100 other things!

Have you noticed Pumkin wanting be around you more since you were pregnant? Or just the same as usual? My dog got super attached (more so than normal) when I was pregnant last year.

Bummer re. the restless sleep…I don’t function well at all the following day when sleep deprived, so I feel your pain, and unfortunately I can’t train my monkey mind to nap during the day. It’ll all be worth it…just keep your eye on the prize 🙂 Glad you seized the opportunity for some playtime with your little guy, though!

Hi- I am actually commenting on your BERF post from today (I couldn’t figure out how to comment over there- sorry this blog stuff is still new to me). The book you have on vaccinations is a good one. I chose not to follow the doctor recommended vaccination schedule for my boys for various reasons and this book helped me to decide on a vaccination schedule that I was more comfortable with. I am for vaccinating my children and they will be all up to date on their vaccinations by the time they go to school, but I just don’t believe that it can be good for them to put all of that in their tiny bodies. One that I was very firm on was no Hep B at the hospital. They generally give this shot to the babies before you leave the hospital. At that point, they are really not at risk of contracting Hep B. My doctor told me that they give it then because they have a “captive audience.” Their little immune systems aren’t even fully developed and your introducing a disease into their systems- it just doesn’t make sense to me. OK- I will get off my soap box now:). Just wanted you to know you might want to skim the vaccination book before you have your little one because they will want to start vaccinations at the hospital when he is born.

After your last post I was going to ask you if you have actually been able to “play” with the baby and have him poke back. Mine liked to use their hands, feet, elbows and then it was their little bottoms and heads that always were so weird to see and feel. So much fun, and so exciting to imagine playing with your little guy very soon!

Give me the scoop on flying. Did you wear the compression socks? Did your feet swell? I have two trips to San Francisco, a trip to Cancun, and a trip to Rhode Island in my 7th month of pregnancy. Fun times.

I ordered hot pink compression socks last night.

I did wear the socks all day – just marathon ones (not medical grade) that I borrowed from a friend. I don’t think I swelled at all. My only complaint is that sitting is just more uncomfortable now, but I didn’t have any major issues. Drank normal amount of water and only had to go to the bathroom 1-2 times. I had an aisle seat, which was great for legs!

I loved playing the poking game with my two pregnancies…sometimes they would get their feet, hands…something, stuck up in my ribs! Ouch! My first son was born at the end of August…luckily the summer was not tooo hot and I was near water to cool off. Avoided any swelling issues somehow! Welcome home!
