Hah! That’s funny because I had my first bowl of oats this morning for the first time in forever, and on my fourth bite I was thinking “Ugh, this stuff is so filling!” But I like to snack throughout the day too 🙂
Woo hoo for pretty weather! It’s the same here! Perfect day for a run!

That GH jam looks so yummy! Have a good day, Kath! 🙂

I’d love to be tall! I wish – only 5’2. When we used to go out to clubs, my friend who’s like 5’10 used to get hit on all the time – one guy came up to her and told her she was “the perfect height”….

I secretly hated her and hoped the guy was drunk.

    Hi Kath,

I was just looking (lol more like lurking) through some of your old posts, and I noticed that you seem to have really developed a healthy attitude towards food and exercise- not that you didn’t before, but there were a lot more posts saying things “I really overdid it, food-wise” or calorie-counting, or worries of weight gain, for example. I really applaud you for overcoming that kind of thinking (which I think almost all women have, or have had). I am curious though: has your weight changed since adopting this kind of thinking? Do you ever worry about over-doing it, calorie-wise, and just not mention it too much on the blog? How do you deal with weight fluctuations? I am trying to develop a healthier attitude, but the fear of weight gain is really affecting me, so I am just curious of your response.

Thanks! (and sorry this was so long…)

      Hey Emily,
Your observation is true. I think the way I viewed overeating was result of having been overweight and having gone through a weight loss mindset for 2 years. The maintenance mindset is much easier on the brain. My weight has indeed fluctuated since entering maintenance, although I no longer weigh myself. I think I’m probably about 5 pounds heavier than I was at the end of my weight loss, but I am loving where I am with my eating these days, so I’m not sure I’d trade 5 pounds to have to give up matt’s beer or Great Harvest bread. I actually have lost weight at times, although it’s much more gradual and just a result of cutting back on portions, snacks and desserts. I think in maintenance it’s harder to catch a climbing weight when you don’t worry as much about what you’re eating, but then again, it’s not that hard for the weight to come back off with some small adjustments.

hi kath! I was excited to see your reply to this, because it’s something I’ve been thinking/wondering about as well. I’m at a (very) healthy weight, run and strength train several times a week, and lead a very active life. Since I quit weighing myself, (partly due to inspiration from your blog!) and keeping a general calorie tally in my head versus an exact calorie count in a journal, I sometimes struggle with the fact that I may or may not be a few pounds (5 maybe) more than before. I love hearing tips/thoughts on what you do to maintain a healthy perspective.
Thanks for all your hard work,
