Hey Puddin’

IMG_1718 (640x427)

Today’s special: Apple Crunch Bread Pudding Bars!!!!! They are HEAVENLY! We used day-old bread for the ultimate bread pudding texture. And the simple frosting makes them divine.

IMG_1720 (640x427)

I had a great morning – got to go to my favorite Body Pump class by Chris. He sure turns muscles from firm to puddin’ to steel! The class is called Pump Challenge because he goes beyond the Body Pump curriculum and makes it even hard – long holds, extra minutes on songs – the works. I’m going to feel it tomorrow!

I showered at the gym and headed down to the bakery. Showering there has become so convenient and saved me many hours of biking back and forth.

IMG_1723 (640x427)

For lunch I brought a kale salad from our garden. I took our kale, which is still baby enough to eat without chopping up the leaves, and massaged it in olive oil, salt and some red peppers. At work I added tomatoes, green peppers, olives and a slab of tofu, plus lemony hummus and a Honey Whole Wheat Roll.

IMG_1729 (640x427)

Kale on the bottom!

IMG_1731 (640x427)

IMG_1725 (640x427)IMG_1728 (640x427)

I also nibbled on some Cinnamon Raisin Walnut and Cheddar Garlic croutons before I sat down to lunch when I had to jump in and help out for a bit. Had to tide my hunger!

IMG_1724 (640x427)

Bread Puddin’ Bar for dessert – yum!! The cinnamony touch is the best!

Your apple bread looks awesome! 🙂

And just wondering, is Chris a certified BodyPUMP instructor? Does he just add that stuff himself and still call it BP? I think it is great he adds all that stuff (fitness wise), but to keep with the actual format is what he was trained in (if he was) and expected to deliver. Not trying to start anything controversial, I was just curious? Thanks! Have a lovely day, Kath!

      June 20, 2011 at 2:30 pm

That’s true – instructors of the Les Mills fitness classes are never allowed to stray from the formatted class. He is either just ignoring the rules and still calling it Body Pump, or this is not really a BP class.

No, he’s a trainer and certified and all that jazz. The class was officially BP but when he started making it more challenging they decided to change the name out of respect for the original.

Kath the Apple Crunch Bread Pudding Bars look amazing. When I was in Aruba last month, they have a local raisin bread pudding type bar they sell in the grocery store and I posted a million times about my love of it. The picture of your bars is making me want to make them!

I dont suppose you have a recipe (even if you can’t post the exact recipe b/c of the franchise situation) but just sort of an idea…there are soooo many ways to make bread pudding, I’d love a jumping off place if you have one. That’s how much I want to make those!

Just wanted to say congratulations again on your bakery, it looks fantastic! Last week I went to a farmers market here in Arlington, VA and saw a Great Harvest stand for the first time. I got so excited and went up to the guy and said “Do you know Kath? She has a Great Harvest bakery too!” Well…he seemed to look at me like I was crazy, I think I’m going to wait to try your delicious breads 🙂

I’ved gotten bread from the GH guy at the Ballston farmer’s market and it seemed to have lost something—no seeds on top of the Dakota and the crust tasted like it had been bagged too soon–a bit soggy/plastic taste (I spent my high school years working in a bakery so a semi-professional opinion) :). Bread from his shop near Shirlington is noticably better stuff.

I have worked in to bakeries and never had a problem with all of the treats around. However after seeing all of your goodies for the last couple of weeks, I don’t know how you resist. The closest Great Harvest is 1 hour away and that saves me.

Bread pudding is SO delighful. I once had the best butterscotch bread pudding. I actually think the apple crunch bread pudding sounds better… that is saying something Kath 😉

I agree with EVERYONE above, the pudding bars look like melt-in-your-mouth heaven.

Do you guys have nutritional facts for the stuff you make?

Wanting to know if I need to avoid eating 6 of them or if I’ll be ok 🙂

Remember for undergrad credits, the class where you have to do prodcution? We ran a restaurant and I was always in charge of the coconut apricot bread pudding. It was my baby and it was FAB U LOUS! I’ve been in love with bread pudding ever since.
