Here And Gone Again

Gotta post fast because I’m headed to the GYM !! Showering there, grabbing dinner at EarthFare and then heading to class. Lab got out an hour early today 🙂 I went to pick up the CSA delivery , then did an assignment , and I’ve got an hour and a half that I’m putting to good use toward a workout (since I got my extra hour of sleep already 🙂 )

Oatmeal held me over fine today. Sure I got hungry around 10:30, but it was the gradual building hunger you’re supposed to feel before a meal, so it was fine.

I asked the husband to help me out and pack my lunch yesterday – he did a great job!

Turkey, avocado, pickle, pesto + romaine on bakery whole grain bread –

Veggies + TJ’s hummus (in the same bag!?!? It was a bit challenging to eat…and a little melted too)

A shriveled peach (but it was juicy and delicious!)

And a vanilla yogurt with blueberries –

I only got to eat half my sandwich because I only had 15 minutes to eat! I feel like i’ve spent 3 years learning how to eat sloooowly and now I have to stuff my face!! Grrr. 17 more days… Anyways, I ate the other half around 2:30 while commuting home.

I’m off!

Hey, I just opened up a new frozen yogurt/ice cream maker and am ready to put it to use. Does anyone have a good frozen yogurt or semi-healthy ice cream recipes? Thanks!

Kath – I know how you feel, but in an opposite way….I’ve had years of learning and training how to eat fast. From when I was 16 until about 23 I had jobs where all I got was a 15 minute lunch break and that included punching in/out, heating up food, walking to the breakroom, etc so I literally had to scarf down my food as fast as I could!! Now, I’m trying to do the opposite because I actually have a lot of time to eat, and it’s SO hard for me!

My husband and I sit down every night to a meal together and while he takes 30-40 minutes to eat (!?), I’m done in 6 or 7 minutes flat!!! I can’t help it! 🙁

Hi Kath- every day recently when I have been reading your blog, I have had so much admiration for you! You are really “toughing it”- it will be over soon, and you are doing such a good job staying on track and focused, even with a horrid professor!

My name is Anna and I have been an avid lover of the food blogging world for over a year. Your blog introduced me to the blogging world and has most inspired me- your pictures are gorgeous, you focus on making your meals balanced and beautiful, you have grat fun cooking with your hubbie, and some days when out with friends you eat a few desserts! I admire your commitment to health and realistic approach toward food.

About a month ago, I started my own blog, called Meals from the Girl in the Little Black Dress.
    http://mealsfromthegirlinthelittleblackdress.wordpress.com/
I focus on eating healthfully with mostly whole foods, and feeling good about everything I put into my mouth. I was wondering if I might provide a link to your blog on my website? Also, if you have any suggestions on my blog, I would love to hear them! Thanks so much, Jenna, for being so inspiring!

Christin: Take a multi and ZINC..seriously zinc will help. It makes my tummy sick though so take it with food.
I have a super weak immune system, like i even have to wear masks in public sometimes. My doctor recommended zinc for my whole family so they don’t get sick… so i won’t get sick!

I don’t want to sound rude but why ask Kath about stuff to eat to ward off colds? have you tried looking it up? there is a whole internet out there.

Thanks Lindsay, I appreciate the insight. Charmain, kath has a FOOD blog and I asked her a question about FOOD. Last time I checked, this blog IS on the internet…not to sound rude, but it seemed like a good idea to ask a group of food bloggers a question pertaining to food…I didn’t mean to offend by asking that question, sorry if I did…

I know what you mean about feeling like you have to stuff your face during those short breaks. Whenever I am on a time crunch like that I can hardly get down a granola bar, because I am so used to eating slowly.

On the bright side, you only have a couple more weeks of this crazy schedule left, and then hopefully you can return to a more relaxed eating routine!

was reading the new issues of fitness magazine and in one of the articles they said “cukes” instead of cucumbers. I wanted to write a letter and tell them that kath spells it right with “cucs” but then i got tired and fell asleep.

    Christin,
You can’t “ward off” colds…they are viruses, and you will get them if you are exposed to the virus. You can, however, build up your immune system by making sure you are eating plenty of fruits/veggies or a multi daily. That way if/when you get a cold, your body will be better prepared to fight it off.

    Kath,

I don’t want to sound rude or overly critical because I enjoy your blog and think your blogging persona comes across as very sweet. However, I might caution you about making comments about others with whom you have professional encounters (e.g., the horrible professor). It’s just too easy for these things to come to light. Just a thought!

    I agree, tvk.

I adore Kath (um, that’s so creepy), and I have wanted to make a similar comment. Of course you want to vent, but since the blog is public and so obviously written by you…well, you just want to be careful what you say!

    Little Black Dress,
Thanks for all the nice compliments. Your blog looks good – very detailed!! Try using your camera’s macro setting to keep the blur out of the photos, but your angles are great.

    Kelly T,
    I’ve always been a horrible speller 😉

    TVK and M,
You guys are totally right; I just can’t hold it in I’ll work on it. 😳 But as Mel said, since there are no names of the school, prof, or my last (or even full) name that are search-able, the chances he finds it on the internet are soooo small.
