Hands Free

IMG_8552Blog

It was back to rice cooker oats today! Long time, no see.

IMG_8551Blog

Rice cooker oats saved me during the first trimester when standing up to make breakfast each morning was a challenge.

Once my taste returned (around 15 weeks) hot stove-top oats were back at the top of my list. But my rice cooker felt neglected when I put beans in it instead, so I brought it back out last night for oats.

IMG_8556Blog

The mix:

  • 1/3 cup coach’s oats
  • 1/2 banana
  • Pinch cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 cup water

–> porridge setting

–> timer

1/2 cup cottage cheese stirred in this morning and topped with salty p-nuts, WF peanut butter and Grandma Candy’s Jam

IMG_8560Blog

But sadly this was not the oatmeal of my dreams. It was very gummy and just…not great. I shame since it’s so fun and easy to make! But nothing compares to stove-top…

I enjoyed my oats with some House Hunters this morning and nearly choked on my tea when I saw my friend Jessica from Davidson as the realtor du jour!!!!!!!!!!!! So exciting – and a great Durham, NC episode too!

2012-04-05 08.22.41Blog

Here was dinner with Jessica just a few months ago – she’s in yellow with the cute glasses!

IMG_6047Blog this !

I am a House Hunters FANATIC so this was a huge fun surprise : )

[PS. I have about a 95% success rate with guessing which house the people choose and I got it WRONG on Jessica’s episode!]

I love House Hunters, but the funny thing is that I’ve only ever watched a few episodes with sound. It’s always on when I’m at the gym so I watch it but have my ipod on while I run – if I like it in silence, I’m sure I’d be addicted if I was actually listening to the people talk! LOL 🙂 Have a great day Kath!

Okay have you not posted that AWESOME star wall decoration before or am I just seriously non-observant? Don’t answer that if it’s B.

That’s way cool! I’m a HH fanatic too. I could watch it all day long and the Mr hates it when he gets sucked in to an episode…or 50. Sorry the oatmeal didn’t turn out so hot. There’s always tomorrow! 😉

Interesting to hear that you’re not into the rice cooker oats anymore. When you were posting about them all the time, the rice cooker method sounded tempting.

Ever since I learned that they’re already under contract, I’ve had a 95% success rate too! It’s interesting the subtle change in the language they use with the house they’ve already bought. For example, “That WILL be good for the dogs” instead of “that WOULD be good for the dogs.” Plus you can see it on their faces when they’re seeing a place for the first time or not.

I was totally bored with House Hunters until I discovered this fact and now it’s new and exciting for me to watch. It’s like a game show! Hahaha

That’s so strange about the 1st trimester? Seems like when you posted it way back then there was some confusion, 5 – 10 minutes on the stove or 5 minutes of work w/the rice cooker? Thought you determined it didn’t save time until you stopped adding milk (several tries into it). Wonder why one task seemed more tiring? Pregnancy can be so weird! =)

Kath – I have some tough news. I too was obSESSED with House Hunters and HH-International… however, I recently learned that it’s at least 75% fake. A person can’t even apply to be on the show until they are under contract with one of the three houses. Then they just take them to two others and they pretend to select the one they’ve already bought. I couldn’t believe it, but I guess Ia always knew there was something fishy going on with the show…
