{Hand Crafted}

IMG_9175-2Blog

This morning’s bowl of oatmeal was hand-crafted by Matt!

IMG_9179-2Blog

Some days he’s up at 6 rushing to get to the bakery before first pan. Other days he takes his time – and makes me breakfast!

IMG_9171-3Blog

I still can’t get over how different both of our versions of the same recipe taste! I think it’s mostly a thickness and chia seed difference (he leaves out the seeds – no idea why – and cooks it slightly thicker than I do)

IMG_9173-3Blog

Whipped banana oats topped with simple homemade granola, Grandma Candy’s Jam + WF PB

IMG_9169-4Blog

Mas agua [and aqua!]

IMG_9176-2Blog

We ate together on the porch! Enjoy your day!

I definitely think chia seeds make a difference on taste and texture, I had some in my oats this morning! Apple cinnamon oats with egg whites mixed in!

What a pretty bowl! I love Great Harvest! Just found out I am doing my dietetic internship at Appalachian State in Boone NC and one of the first things I checked was if they had a Great Harvest. They don’t 🙁

Aww, that’s a good man you’ve got there! My Mr made my oatmeal one morning after I showed him how I made mine and he gave it to me all stirred up and it um…well, looked like it had already been eaten. I had to take a pic of it because I couldn’t stop laughing but I love the thought behind it! 🙂

Perfect way to start the day in my opinion! I’m enjoying oats with my man right now too! Crazy how two people can make the same thing and it come out differently. Technique and slight changes of ingredients completely change a recipe. Have a great one Kath!

Just noticed the straw in your agua and wanted to share a tip. I have a 10.5 month old and, like you, I was constantly thirsty when I was pregnant. I drank water all day long from a cup with a straw. Somewhere around the middle of my pregnancy I was getting incredibly uncomfortable gas pains (TMI?) during the middle of the afternoon everday. After much searching online, I decided to stop chewing gum and also stop using straws. From what I read, you “ingest” much more air when you chew gum and drink through straws and I think it had much more of an impact on me the more space the baby took up. Just a cautionary tale in case you start to experience anything similar. Bendy straws are fun though:-)

I made overnight oats for the first time last night. I had to force myself to finish it. It was like paste. Made me think of the glue I used in elementary school. I poured more milk over it, but it was still yucky. Yours always looks so good! I was so looking forward to it after all of your posts/pictures.
I used 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, a lil PB, and some sweetener.
    Did I leave something out?

Nope, that’s the texture I love. Maybe add more milk next time – and you can leave out the yogurt?

    Kath,
I’ve been reading your blog for about a month now (found it looking for oatmeal recipes) and I just want to tell you how much I love it. I recently had a lumpectomy and discovered I will need a mastecomy, so I am looking at a more health conscious place to be, if that makes sense.
Your blog is my jumping off point.
    BTW, you look so lovely.
