Come Away With Me

Hand or foot!?

IMG_9142

That’s a thumb/wrist being iced inside a big warm sock : ) Thumb still hurts. Icing HURTS. But I think it helped – at least temporarily.

It was HOT on the porch this afternoon and I loved it! Sweated in my chair : ) People keep telling me “ohhhh you’re due in August – good luck with that heat” but I’m not worried at all. I don’t plan to do any sports at noon in the high sun, and I’m sure by August we’ll be using our air conditioning, but I just  love warm weather sooooo much I vowed years ago to never complain about heat and I rarely do. Cold and rain on the other hand…

Snacks this afternoon came directly from the package. I wasn’t too hungry and had just a few handfuls before dinner was ready.

IMG_9143

Karen brought over the most delicious chicken + mushroom marsala pasta! She used this Giada recipe plus fresh Mona Lisa pasta!

IMG_9156

We grilled up a bunch of veggies on the side. Summatime!

Veg

This dish was incredible!

IMG_9148

The sauce wasn’t too rich and the marsala taste just right! Loved the shrooms and chicken bits.

IMG_9159

Veggies were grilled in EVOO, smoked paprika and salt

IMG_9162

IMG_9157

IMG_9151

After something that rich, sometimes you just need to end with something simple..

When you use smoked paprika, do you use the sweet kind or the hot kind? I picked up some sweet smoked paprika and am not sure this is what I thought I was going for… 🙂

Today in Ontario it was almost 80 F and so humid. Ugh. I really hate the heat and have never been so lucky to have air conditioning which means that you never get relief from the heat. I think it wouldn’t be so bad if during the summer I can at least sleep well, but it’s so hard to face the heat when you were sweating and tossing all night.

So silly that people tell you that about delivering in August. People always have something negative to say. I delivered in July in Texas heat and it was my easiest pregnancy and delivery out of 3. The hardest was my October baby who arrived in flu season. Don’t let people scare you. I think summer babies are wonderful!

The SUN has finally started beaming down on the city of seoul, the cherry trees are opening up and I LOVE to sweat it out in the sunshine (sunblock applied to my porcelin skin of course!) of our tiny porch. Cheers to great weather and great meals with friends!!

Hey Kath, I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this to you, but carpal tunnel syndrome and similar ailments are actually pretty common during pregnancy: http://www.lilsugar.com/Why-Didnt-Anybody-Tell-Me-Pregnancy-Carpal-Tunnel-5593207.

If you haven’t had problems with it before despite having been a blogger for years now, I’m willing to bet it will disappear very soon after your little guy is born!

(Also, for future reference, if you find the base of your thumb to be extremely painful a few months after he’s born, google De Quervain’s, or new mom thumb/hand. I got this several months after my son was born and ended up needing a cortisone shot. Fortunately, that totally fixed it.)

I’m the exact opposite! I’ll always, ALWAYS complain about it being too hot because I can’t stand it, lol. It was in the 80s here today and longed for the frigid nights just days ago. It’s too soon to be this hot in NY!
