Half A Regular Day

Squeezing my regular life back in today – I spent the morning working on house things and have an afternoon full of appointments!

Laundry room before:

IMG_0450-2Blog

Laundry room after! Still a work in progress. I might get a chest of drawers or something instead of that rack on the left. We have no linen closet here, so I’m using this part of the laundry room for linen storage in my mom’s antique boxes!! She found one in her house and one on Ebay for me as a housewarming gift! I don’t really use canvas totes for laundry (they would just mildew! And they were a bit mildewy!) but after a nice washing I decided to keep 2 – one for blanket storage and one for sheets/towels waiting to be washed after guests and things. More details on Home Neat Home later 🙂

IMG_0452-2Blog

Also obsessed with these baskets – also a donation from my mother – that had no function in our last house but are perfect for towel storage here!!!

IMG_0454-2Blog

For lunch I biked down to the bakery (down because it’s mostly downhill). What was once a COMMUTE is now a GLORIOUS quick trip!!!

I had a lunch meeting with Lindsey, the editor of Breathe!! We’ve been working together for years but had never met in person. It was such a pleasure to meet her!

Curried Tuna for me!

With a quadruple Savannah bar for dessert

Shared with these new friends who work at Summit Publishing and live here in Cville!

*** 2 hours later ***

Just wrapped up 3 of my meetings – whew! Gotta go get groceries and things! Good dinner planned tonight.

Love the look in the laundry room so far. I’ve always wanted to do wrapped up towels in a basket but never have the right space for it in bathrooms or laundry rooms. Next house…

I absolutely love your laundry room! I just have a corner of the basement for mine. I find the canvas bags to be really nice when sorting laundry, but only when I have a bunch to do. I haven’t experienced the mildew yet…maybe I need to check when I get home!!!

Happy cooking in your new kitchen 🙂

I love rolled up towels in baskets — too bad it just doesn’t work in our current house. There isn’t enough floor space to have something like that.

    Everything looks great so far!

And the laundry room looks great. Right out of the pages of a Martha Stewart catalog…great work on that! And love it when I find uses for things in new houses that had zero use in a previous house (sad that I’ve moved enough to know this feeling! but hope to be staying put for awhile)

I am so amazed with your posts lately, at how organized you are and how much you manage to get done in a day. I thought I was organized but you definitely give me something to shoot for. I love your blue walls. I have blue in my family room and kitchen & it is so calming. Oh and I had to laugh at the trampoline. We have been through 2 in the last 8 years. We are currently without one. Are you sure Matt doesn’t want it? A trampoline enabled me to make dinner when all my kiddos were little.

I have the canvas laundry bags pictured (well, similar) and they have never mildewed. You can’t put wet things in them, but I wouldn’t do that in any laundry receptacle. If I have something wet, like a washrag, I hang it over the edge of the utili-tub to dry before tossing it in the laundry cart.

Your new house looks lovely! Congratulations to you!
