Food Clutter

Had a bit of a crazy morning here! Blog was shut down by the powers that be for a few hours.

Apparently my host thinks my blog should only feature one photo of the Buddha bowl per post to minimize potential server interruptions. I was very offended at the suggestion that I post too many photos of the same bowl! And apparently the photo of my cool coffee "just adds clutter."

Imagine KERF without photos: "Good morning. I ate oats. I drank coffee. It was good."

IMG_3584 (640x427) (2)

I got all dressed up in a skirt but our meetings were pushed from 10AM to 2PM, so we just hung around

IMG_3587 (640x427) (2)

Since we’d planned a business lunch out today that was canceled, we reverted to the leftovers in the fridge when we were hungry. Lots of choices!

IMG_3564 (640x427)

I went with a hodge podge salad – my favorite!

IMG_3570 (640x427) (2)

Romaine, roasted veggies, tomato, tofu, pesto clumps, kale granola [<– was indeed fabulous on a salad!]

IMG_3575 (640x427) (2)

IMG_3579 (640x427) (2)

On the side some Breakfast Blast toast with a drizzle of local honey

IMG_3567 (640x427) (2)

IMG_3577 (640x427) (2)

IMG_3586 (640x427) (2)

And that’s the end of that chapter!

Yeah, I think just one pic of each item would not be the KERF we all know!

Leftovers are best on a salad or folded into a wrap — works every time!

i’m going to go out on a limb and disagree with (what i guess is) the majority of your readers. first off, i do love your photographs. i think you are really talented and take pretty pictures- there’s really nothing worse than reading a blog post with crappy, blurry photos of food. BUT sometimes i think you could condense down to just a select few, or maybe only take photos that are *actually* different. I would never complain (wait, am i complaining?) but it’s sort of annoying to read a food blog and look at 4 pictures of the same bowl of oatmeal, no matter how nice the photography. But, i guess that’s what the scroll bar is for!

this is not to say i’m siding with your host- i don’t think they should have a say in your blog content and it’s pretty jerky of them to assume they do. (i hope i’m not being a jerk! just my opinion here!)

good luck getting it worked out!

I know what you’re saying but they are usually not all the same – I make a hard effort to do one creative, one zoomed in for toppings, one zoomed out for bowl – 3 perspectives. You’d be surprised how many photos I do NOT post because they are the same photo form same perspective twice.

Have you considering uploading your photos to a photosharing site like Flickr? At least then your photos are on the flickr server — not your web host’s server. That way you can post as many photos as you’d like in a post.

Plus, I’ve seen free programs that will make a mosaic out of selected flickr images and spit out a single .jpg file.

I’m not familiar wordpress, but with blogger I just grab the html code from flickr in the size photo I want, flip over to the code in my post and paste it. The only two aggravations being that I have to add border=”0″ in the tag to get rid of the nasty blue border and unless you pay for a pro membership, you have to reduce your file size a bit if you’re using a dslr. But that shouldn’t be a big deal since you shouldn’t be posting 28M photos to the web anyway!

I definitely don’t have time to upload to Flickr. 3 posts a day – all I have time for a drag and drop in. I always resize my photos down though, which should help a lot. I’m looking at a deicated server. Thanks for the suggestion though, and the single JPG mosaic would be great.

I don’t know anything about your agreement with your server company, but it seems to me that you are the client/customer…and they don’t get to tell you what to do with your blog. If you’re exceeding some limit that’s part of your agreement, then they tell you that and charge you more for the service — not tell you what you can and cannot post.
