The Way The Cookie Crumbles

We have Great Harvest location meetings all day today, so it was another early run day.

IMG_3563 (640x427)

[We’re still looking for a location. You’d think finding one would be as simple as renting an apartment. You find one you like, in a neighborhood you like, for a price you like. You make an offer to nearly match their asking price. You assume it will come clean and tidy and that the landlord will be nice and fix things that break and that’s that.

But it’s really more like this: the landlord tells you the price is actually not what was advertised. That the location doesn’t come with parking spots. That the bathroom plumbing is broken and you are expected to pay to fix it. That you have to start paying rent before you move in. That you must get your ex-boyfriend to sign the lease before he approves it. Yadda yadda.

These are all hypothetical, but it’s a taste of what we’ve been going through trying to find the right spot AND coming to an agreement on terms. If we could JUST get past the location hunt we’d be 3-4 months from having a bakery!]

Anyways, we went RUNNING this morning. I wake up so stiff and headachy sometimes (I have GOT to learn to sleep on my back!) and the thought of running seems torturous. But experience tells me that I’ll be feeling great as soon as I’m out in the morning air. And experience is always right.

I felt great right away, but my stomach did not. I had 3 bites of banana and a tsp of peanut butter before we left (I was starving when I woke up) and that seemed to give me sharp pains throughout the whole 4.5 miles. It was not an ideal run, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Onto breakfast – Buddhalicious

Your comment about this morning “I wake up so stiff and headachy sometimes (I have GOT to learn to sleep on my back!) and the thought of running seems torturous. But experience tells me that I’ll be feeling great as soon as I’m out in the morning air. And experience is always right.” seriously got me out the door this morning. I was reading it on my iTouch while slowly debating whether or not I wanted to get out and go and after I read that line I switched over to music and got moving 🙂 Thanks!

My dad and I are working on opening a frozen yogurt shop and we’re meeting the same kind of stuff – of course we already have the location, now it’s the town giving us agida over things like parking and signage and air conditioning … But we will get there! And the KERF-Matt Great Harvest shall be the greatest GH ever!

    Good luck today!!

Kath, I’m curious as to why sleeping on your back would make you less stiff. I cannot sleep on my back and have always always slept on my side. I remember learning in health class in grade school that sleeping on your side or on your back with a pillow under your calves was best for your back. Is that no longer correct?

Good luck with meetings! I hope you find a place lickety split!

My life has changed since I have started sleeping on my back. Get a cervical spine supporting pillow, so that it cradles you head on your back or on your side. Sleeping on my stomach caused such major neck problems for me. I never thought I could get over sleeping on my stomach, but it only took a few days!! Just get the right pillow. I got one from my chiropractor. Look into this, it really will change the way you feel waking up every morning!
