On The Hunt

Finally back at home after an afternoon of Great Harvest work. Still location hunting – it’s tough! We spent the day with our real estate broker and ended on a social note – dinner and a drink.

IMG_0649 (640x480)

Lucky for us, he treated us to dinner out!! (WHEEE!) Thanks M! And lucky for me, I thought to pack my point and shoot camera.

We were planning to have lunch at Revolutionary Soup today but missed out. But lucky again, we made it there for dinner. The food tasted SO GOOD. I must have been hungry 🙂

IMG_0657 (480x640)

I ordered a cup of the Spicy Peanut Tofu Soup, which was thick and awesome.

IMG_0659 (480x640)

Plus the Spinach Salad with Raspberries (oh my word I wish these weren’t so expensive in real life), goat cheese and toasted almonds.

IMG_0655 (640x480)

I was pleased with the good-sized salad – and that it came with a roll! (Er, maybe that came with the soup!?)

IMG_0654 (480x640)

After our early dinner we treated for a drink and some live bluegrass

IMG_0663 (640x480) IMG_0665 (640x480)

Glad of vino for me

IMG_0661 (480x640)IMG_0670 (480x640) IMG_0667 (640x480)

Dessert was a pinch-the-butt hunk of GH Warrenton’s Caraway Rye from the car. YOM!

IMG_0671 (640x480)

Feeling sick because now I might upgrade my blog to a dedicated server. Moving. AGAIN. And that always means trouble. I hate this scary web stuff so much! I just want to pay lots of money to have great service and security! You’d think a company would take me up on that offer. If you are a host and you want my money in exchange for a GREAT server that I will never (EVER) have to think about, please let me know!

Tomorrow, we travel.

Haha hi Kath, I started reading your blog from your very first post about 3 weeks ago and I’ve only just gotten to December 08! I panicked because I realized you were updating almost as fast as I was reading and that I would never catch up … then I realized I could just read your most recent posts while whittling away at the archives. Twice as much Kath! 🙂

Keep up the excellent work!! See you in two years??

I always wonder about self-hosting and then read stories like yours (saw your tweets too) and think about how blogs like Orangette and Gluten-Free Girl still have blogspot as part of their names and get tons of readers and don’t self-host – I am sort of in-between – bought my domain name through blogger (so no blogspot in my blog name) but they host. Moving hosts really scares me. I remember Smitten Kitchen had a similar problem last year.

You’d think that a company that sells itself on reliable web hosting would be… well, reliable.

I’m sorry that you’re struggling with your web-hosting.

If you want I’ll write them an email and tell them that I need my daily KERF-fix or else. 🙂

I hope it all works out and that you guys find a bakery location soon!

But I trust in your research abilities, and that you will find the best option. 🙂 A few random asides– Revolutionary Soup was there when my sister lived in Cville, over 10 years ago, and my favorite thing was the Peanut soup! The solution to the cost of the raspberries is to grow your own. Once you’re somewhere kind of long-term, get some vines established and you’ll be enjoying them for free. Right now, we’re lucky enough to get some of the harvest from my MIL’s vines since we’re renting 🙂

Hi Kath! A friend of mine, who is an avid reader of your blog forwarded on this post to me because I run a boutique hosting company (we’re hosting her foodblog, and I think she’s emailed you before: http://shiseating.com). Anyway, our mission is to provide extra secure, reliable hosting affordably — and if you’re still looking, I’d be happy to talk to you about moving your blog (I’ve helped a variety of people move their blogs, so I’m somewhat used to the ins and outs of that). It’s not always seamless, but I’ll work hard to minimize any effort on your part and hopefully make it a painless process. Feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Best wishes — Zach
