Fondant, Fudge + Food

Whew! Just did my 30 minutes of Friday speed cleaning – floors are swept + vacuumed, kitchen is spotless, laundry is folded (the husband did it this morning – what a surprise!) Now the weekend can officially begin

this !

Food lab was very cool this morning. We made a bunch of different fondant and fudge recipes with different variations (control, cream of tartar, corn syrup, etc.).

Fondant –

Fudge –

We did the control recipe for both and neither really turned out that great. Well, the fondant was OK but the fudge was more like a brownie than fudge –

Here are some of the variations:

My continental breakfast held me over really well, but I did do a bit of taste testing of 100% sugar concoctions 🙂

I was super excited about having some of the husband’s new rye bread for lunch. I put the rest of my salmon salad on it with some spinach –

Along with a giant carrot with some Smucker’s Natural

And green tea

I’ve got a lot of school work to do this afternoon, but I am still doing the Friday Dance:

I just got my Country Bob’s Sauce in the mail, and I wanted to thank you again for hosting that contest. I love that it’s all natural ingredients, and a few ingredients at that. And I love the taste, as well. Hubby said it tastes like “Worcestershire BBQ sauce,” which I thought was a great description. Thanks again!

That’s some beautiful sunshine spilling across your lunch there, Kath. Wish I had some! Have a wonderful, sunny day while I’m home sick and studying on this rainy Utah day! (My spirits are pretty sunny, though!)

We just did a lab a couple of weeks ago and made fondant and fudge too! Though we didn’t try out different variations. The fondant itself took at least 45 minutes to make! And was a little too addictive…

He’s started his blog – but it’s not quite ready. Should be in the next 5 days or so. I’m sorry it’s taking so long, but he’s been busy!
