Packages & Pasta

I had such a great afternoon – I blame the clean house! I got a ton done on my list, including preparing for 2 of my 3 exams next week and memorizing the 20 amino acid abbreviations. Quizlet.com made the latter a piece of cake. Can I also add that Pandora’s Teen Pop station is awesome!? I’m not really a big pop music person – I don’t own any Brittany CD’s – but this really hit the spot today

 this !

The mail came around 4:00 and was a wonderful distraction because I received three exciting packages:

The first was my Power Snack Contest honorable mention prize from Angela @ Oh She Glows: an Honest-Foods Country Square – all the way from Canada!

IMG_1403 (1024x768)

Then came a cookbook from Country Bob’s!

IMG_1404 (1024x768)

And finally, my Blogger Secret Ingredient prize pack from Sarah @ Tales of Expansion:

IMG_1405 (1024x768)

Including these darling little Earl Gray Biscotti.

IMG_1406 (1024x768)

I had 2 of them with a cup of tea and WOW. I was so impressed! I love shortbreads and these were fabulous. I went back for 2 more!!

IMG_1407 (1024x768)

Karen joined us for dinner tonight for some Fresh Homemade Pasta. She had a coupon for a free pasta with the purchase of fresh sauce at a local Italian shop, Pasta & Provisions. It is made fresh daily, sold by the pound and cut to the shape of your choice. Cool!

We tried the Spinach Pasta!

IMG_1408 (1024x768)

… and the Meatball Sauce.

IMG_1409 (1024x768)

Karen brought over this wine too. It was one of the best whites I’ve had in ages. I stuck to one 4-5 oz glass. I’m through with multiple pours. Just makes me pour too much!

IMG_1410 (1024x768)

We served the pasta + meatballs over a bed of spinach as an alternative to having a side salad. Loved it!

IMG_1415 (1024x768)

The husband had two pieces of sourdough – I had a big bite

IMG_1416 (1024x768)

The pasta was good, but not anything more amazing than regular dried. I loved the meatballs though. Haven’t had them in ages!

IMG_1414 (1024x768)

I finished my wine and sipped some Perrier too –

IMG_1412 (1024x768)

Dessert. More biscottis. Um, I couldn’t stop at 2, so I had 4. SO GOOD!! These are questionably as good as Quackers!

IMG_1417 (1024x768)

I have been unusually freezing all afternoon/evening and have been counting down to take a bath. I’m going to heat a pot of water on the stove to ensure I have plenty of hot water (sometimes there’s not enough after doing dishes and it’s tortorous to have to sit in lukewarm water). Then maybe some TV time with my other half.

G’night!

Delicious eats too! I love putting all my food into one giant bowl… that way, I don’t have to worry about which part of the meal I want to eat first 😉

I LOVE Britney Spears! I’m going to her concert in April and I couldn’t be more excited (Yes, I’m 31 years old but it’s cool). Her and I even have the same birthday! 🙂 Kath, you need to download some of her songs! I can help you choose…just ask:)

Kath, you can borrow my Britney CDs anytime. And NSYNC, and NKOTB. Do the kids still listen to CDs? Can’t help you out with the Jonas Brothers. I don’t get them. Sorry.

Wow, fresh pasta sounds so good right now!

That must really suck to have a lukewarm bath! I, for one, must have steaming hot water coming out of my shower :).

If it comes time to replace your water tank, you might want to look into a tankless hot water system. This was already in the house we moved in to and it is the BEST! Hot water on demand, never runs out. Supposedly it is more environmentally friendly though I’ve never researched that. All I know is it is great!

I’m surprised the freshly made spinach pasta wasn’t better than dried… but it sounds like you did enjoy it 🙂 I have an old-school manual pasta machine, but haven’t worked up the courage or energy to use it yet – this post reminded me of it, so maybe I’ll give it a whirl!

I’ve GOT to find the Honest Foods Bars. The search continues…

I’m assuming those are Gilbert’s CDs?

    Lynette ,
    Glad it arrived safely!

    Julie ,
Let’s hope our hot water heater lasts a century, but should we ever need a new one, you bet we’ll look into tankless 😉
