Favorite Chews

My favorite meals of the day go in this order:

  1. Breakfast
  2. Lunch
  3. Snack
  4. Dinner

Coincidence?

I think it must be something about sweet carbs for breakfast and savory veggies for dinner. I like sweet things. And carbs! The thought of a veggie scramble for breakfast turns my stomach. Especially with a hot sauce recommendation! Every now and then I can do bacon and eggs type things.

So my point is this: lunch did not always win second place. I used to prefer dinner because lunch always felt so awkward. I couldn’t put together good combos. But those times have passed!

SARDINEEEEES on a Sandwich!

I’ve been preaching sardines to patients at work. They have a trio of outstanding nutrients: omega-3, calcium, vitamin D. And for so cheap! Shelf stable! Delicious! EAT YOUR SARDINES! Once a week.

IMG_3120 (640x427)

Matt made some sardine salad for me yesterday (and ate half for dinner). I’m not sure what all is in this, but it looks like cuc, pepper, carrot, and spices. Perhaps some dill?

IMG_3123 (640x427)

With romaine, on a Dakota bun!

IMG_3122 (640x427)

I’ve got a little extra salad that I’m bringing with me to let my preceptor try. If she hates it I might have to eat it up myself!

IMG_3126 (640x427)

The produce. Also mandatory in any lunchbox.

IMG_3119 (640x427)

"Burries" (I feel so lucky to have THREE kinds at once! That only happens in the movies! Usually I just stick to one at a time to save $$) and a bit of sweet greenery.

IMG_3118 (640x427)

Just one of those days where chocolate is mandatory.

IMG_3125 (640x427)

IMG_3117 (640x427)

This girl is only halfway doing the Friday dance. But still excited – we have dinner plans out!

I just got some fresh strawberries today – I’m so excited they’re in season! Nothing beats good berries 😀
Breakfast is my favourite too – it means Epic Green Monster to me, and that’s ALWAYS a winner 😛
    Have a great day!

I am curious, how are your canned sardines? Whole with bones? Recently I made myself a sardine salad, because of your praises to it, and I had the hardest time cleaning the bones out :/

Eggs in the morning in general used to turn my stomach. Then I realized it was more about how it was cooked and what was in it. For some reason, a fried egg leaves me feeling just fine, and if I scramble, it has to include other good things in it. Maybe it’s a too-much-fat thing?

I married a country boy, so we like our savory breakfasts. I think he got me into eggs. Hehe.

It’s so hard to choose – it all depends on what a meal consists of. Sometimes I get tired of eating a lot of the same breakfast foods, but I have some major favorites. I love lunch – sandwiches, yogurts, salads, soups. And lately for dinner we’ve been eating lighter meals, like platters of cheeses, veggies, olives, breads and crackers, and fruit. It makes dinner more like lunch, which I love.

I love having sweet things for breakfast (Greek yogurt with sweet gluten-free cereal, warm fruit compotes, gluten-free pancakes, etc.). Occasionally I crave some eggs with veggies, but most of the time I’m with you–bring on the sweet carbs! I love how creative you are with your lunches (and how beautiful they look!). Are you eating sustainable sardines? If so, could you indicate to the readers where they can be found. Also, are sardines among the many fish in the ocean that contain high levels of mercury? Are they farmed? I’m unfamiliar and would like more information 🙂

Over-fishing and the threat of shark extinction is actually the reason I completely stopped eating meat a few months ago. I couldn’t believe the fishing industry, and although I am from Maryland and LOVE all seafood I had to quit eating it completely thinking of the problems it has caused with ocean creatures.

I keep thinking about what my favorite foods are…or what I can’t live without. Oatmeal is the 1st one. If nothing else…always oatmeal. Most people that I know think I am crazy for ALWAYS eating oats for breakfast (sometimes I change it up in the form of a pancake), but it just makes me happy. Next, I have to have apples and lettuce…not necessarily together, but those would be the 3 foods I could not live without. Don’t know why I just went in to all that with you…I blame the weather on my spaciness today. Your lunch looks yummy. Oh and I need a treat after dinner…it is a must!

They are a “Best Choice” by Seafood Watch. Wild caught pacific, reproduce rapidly and not high in mercury:
