Family Size

I woke up today with “the urge” – the urge to exercise that is. Luckily the gym was open and everyone else was still asleep. So I took the opportunity to get in a sweat session before the day started. I took my parents’ huge Buick (which was blocking in my car) and got in 30 minutes on the Stepmill (I think I’m going to start calling it that instead of Stairmaster since Stepmill is the actual real name) followed by a 10 minute cool down on the ET.

Once home and showered, we made a family sized pot of whipped banana oatmeal!

Each portion was about 1/3 cup oats, milk, water, pinch salt plus maybe 2 tbsp wheatberries each?

‘Twas an excellent bowl!!

I added Blueberry Vanilla Granola Plank, shaved coconut butter (which I’m liking more each day!), homemade pumpkin butter, and Barney Butter. I’m also wearing my Barney Butter t-shirt on the hike today!!

Plus coffee + a vitamin –

Everyone is in the process of showering (Andrew slept here too) and then we’re headed to a nature preserve for some light hiking.

    The thanksgiving celebration looked marvelous!!

The more I read your blog the more I start to feel like the nicer the presentation of food…the more I “enjoy” it. For the past 4 years since me and the husband have lived together….we rarely ate at the table. Since reading your blog you inspired me to clear the table, place a simple but lovely candle centerpiece, and really take the time to sit and enjoy our meal together over conversation. It’s not just about mowing down on the food anymore. Okay well I’m starting to realize that but the husband isn’t quite there yet. lol. One meal at a time. right?

I’m hoping that one of these days I’ll look at my own bowl of oatmeal and think it looks as yummy as yours!!!

I’m thankful that you take the time for this blog…very inspiring!!

Has anyone heard of this? It’s a program they offer at my gym. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried it. The way that Kath eats is much for fun and interesting, for sure. I still can’t beleive I can eat like that and be thin…….I clearly have not gotten the hang of intuitive eating! Sorry for the messy post above! Thanks.

    Hi Kath!

I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now and I love it! Thanks for all the great recipe ideas! I especially like the ones that involve pumpkin, and I just bought an ENORMOUS can for cheap (yay for after Thanksgiving sales). I was wondering – how do you keep your pumpkin after you open the can? Freezer? Fridge? And how long will it be good for?

    Thanks!

Hi Kath I was just looking at your food diary from Nov last year and I was amazed at how much you have changed. I can tell not counting calories as exactly lets you enjoy food a little more. I was wondering if you were still losing then?

    Yes, Stepmill is moving staircase.

    Level 12.

    mere ,
In tupperware, in the fridge, 7-10 days.

    AshleyH ,
I was maintaining then. I kept a food journal and counted calories a year into maintenance and have gradually weaned myself. While I do often keep a general count of my daily of calories in my head, it’s just a rough estimate and often gets shrugged off on the weekends and special occasions.
