Drooling For Oats

I had the craziest dream last night that I was in a boat and there were alligators all around and ALL of my electronics ended up going overboard when we capsized to escape the gators. My camera, laptop, iPhone – everything on the bottom of the lake! I was sobbing in my sleep. My live revolves around devices 🙁 But I think we were able to recover some of them that had somehow ended up on the roof of my parents’ house!?

And then I woke up in the biggest puddle of drool EVER!!! Related perhaps!?

I came down a little chilly again this morning – lovin’ the fall weather in July!! There is definitely no need to turn on the AC yet.

I decided on an Italian breakfast: biscotti and Italian roast coffee, although not in your traditional fashion:

I used this instant Starbucks sample of the Italian roast along with a sample of PureVia stevia.

IMG_8522 (1024x768)

I think these new instant coffees are awesome. I am not a coffee snob, but I am picky about the flavor of my coffee and Italian roast isn’t my favorite. I’d rather have a small amount of it with cappuccino fluff on top! Loved the sweetness of the PureVia too. Not sure I want to go spend a bunch of money on it when I’ve been pretty happy with just milk in my coffee, but it might be worth getting some of these to have on hand for days when I’m in a sweet mood. I definitely preferred it to the SweetLeaf brand, which I don’t think mixes very well.

IMG_8525 (1024x768)

Anddddd the biscotti – over oats! Kate + Nate left these at our picnic on Sunday, so I don’t know where they came from (although I’d guess Trader Joe’s?)

IMG_8523 (1024x768)

IMG_8530 (1024x768)

IMG_8526 (1024x768)

This would be:

  • 1/4 cup 9 grain cereal mix (that’s 1 serving per the package)
  • 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup soy milk
  • 1/2 banana
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 chopped figs
  • 1/2 crumbled biscotti
  • Drizzle Cacao Bliss coconut icing goodness!!!!!

IMG_8527 (1024x768)

IMG_8524 (1024x768)

The topping was awesome, but this bowl combined with the coffee left me feeling a bit nauseous halfway through and I traded the rest of this:

IMG_8531 (1024x768)

For this:

IMG_8532 (1024x768)

Much better. I think the biscotti oats would have been better suited for a cold winter morning 🙂

OMG it just started raining here!!! I was about to go cut the grass! We haven’t had rain in ages, so it’s kind of a shocker. Today’s forecast:

Today
Jul 1Mostly SunnyMostly Sunny   92°

????!!!

See y’all later!

I just started using Stevia and really like it. I tried it awhile back and it seemed too overpowering at first. …I will have to try the instant coffee for my travels to non-good-coffee places.
Fall weather! I love fall weather, last weekend it was 104 in the backyard, i am hoping it is not so crazy when I return home Friday.

I am curious about the new Stevia products and their safety. I think we might find they are no better or “healthier” than splenda, nutrasweet, etc. What is hitting the shelves now is by no ways as “natural” as the pure leaf extract that you can buy at health food stores (and tastes quiet bitter..) Marion Nestle wrote an article about how they doctor up the extract with chemicals to mask the bitter taste.

    JENNA ,
Hmmm – I have never made the connection. Usually I dream when I’ve slept too much 🙂

    Emily (A Nutritionist Eats) ,
I ordered a sample from their website a looong time ago.

    Lara ,
Good point, and it wouldn’t’ surprise me. That’s why I’m not going to go buy it 🙂 I still think the best method of sweetening is non-sweetening.

    MarathonVal ,
I have THE iPhone 🙂 There is only one. Well actually I have the older one that just got replaced a few weeks ago, but it totally rocks. If you’re on a budget and debating getting one because the 3G is now only $99, then get it. If you can afford the newer one, I’d get it because I hear it’s faster and can do video. I was happy to save $100 🙂 Having an iPhone has been LIFE CHANGING!

    Maddy ,
I have a new show 😳 I didn’t watch TV in college and am still catching up on these reality shows!
