Spicy!

After working on the computer for a while, I had a snack and packed up for Zumba –

Zumba was fun!! Diana goes to this zumba group many nights a week and is a pro – she’s even getting instructor certified. I’m so glad Michelle was there with me because it was much more fun with a friend (Diana was up in front of us bustin’ her moves). We started right in with salsa, some hip hop and many other what-appeared-to-be-Latin dances. Having 10+ years of dance experience, I caught on to the moves pretty quickly, but I’m not exactly the most shake-your-booty type, so I doubt I looked that cool! It was still fun though, and a great form of exercise. I don’t think I can afford to join the group on a regular basis, but the class did rekindle my flame for group exercise. I used to do boot camp, kickboxing, step, sculpt, cycle, CardioFunk – all of ‘em! I don’t know what happened; I just got bored or something. I’ve been enjoying going to the gym when I feel like going. But maybe I’ll do a class later this week!

I got home around 7:30 and we were lucky to have leftovers from last night to heat up for dinner. My GOSH was this dinner spicy!!

IMG_8519 (1024x768)

Okra, potatoes, rice and a little tofu curry, all covered in sriratcha 🙂

IMG_8518 (1024x768)

Plus kale chips, which Matt super-spiced with some cayenne without my knowing. I went from bite of spicy kale to hot + spicy indian. I love spicy foods, but it was not the most pleasant dinner!

KERF made it onto the new Good Bite (really cool food blogger) site!!! Look for my RoseBerry dressing in the bottom left corner!

And Operation Beautiful made the front page!!!

A MAGICAL thing happened today – for the first time since Africa my Google Reader was empty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m off to make it empty again and go read some more Too Many Cooks 🙂

Wow, that sounds like a spicy dinner! I love spicy but I need something not spicy in a meal like that to balance everything out! It sounds like you had a lot of fun at Zumba!

I love zumba classes! They’re so much fun and everyone usually gets into it. There’s so much positivity energy going around in that room, and people don’t look like mindless drones in a gym.

Uuugh you’re so lucky to have a baking husband! All of your breads look incredible mmm mm good 😀

I’ve always wanted to try Zumba. I have a lot of dance experience from gymnastics and from musical theatre, so maybe I’d be good at it?! 🙂 Sounds like you had fun!

I’m going to check out the easydoesit budget. Sounds like a good idea for someone going into an unpaid dietetic internship. Yikes!

Kath, I know I am a simple girl but what the heck is a GOOGLE reader? I think it’s a link to blogs and it alerts you when they have posts you have not read? Am I close?

I just have a short list of fave blogs and I pop in. 😀 Even my bloggins is simple… but I ALWAYS use Windows Live Writer… that is a little miracle I can’t live without!

Love ya bunches and have a fun night. Tomorrow we are making Frushi. 😉 XOXO

I have always been intrigued by zumba, and how sweaty everyone looks when they step out of the class. But I’ve been hesitant to go because I am nottttt a dancer at all and have NO rhythm ;p

I love spicy and that dinner looks amazing, but I wonder if I could handle it! I’ve been wanting to try zumba for a while but I’m scared because some of the ladies at my gym are crazy zumba-ers with zumba shoes and everything!

congrats on making it onto the good bite site! exciting!

i’ve always been curious about zumba. i’m the same way though, i like having the flexibility of exercising when i want. i think the class schedules would work better for me if i had regular working hours rather than random freelance ones. but classes can definitely be a lot of fun!

I’ve always been intrigued by Zumba, but haven’t taken the plunge and actually taken a class, even though it’s offered at my gym. Recently I’ve been taking a Total Body Workout class and I fall behind on the coordination in the aerobics portion, so I’m not sure I’m ready for Zumba yet!

    polly ,
You got it – it collects blog content by RSS feed and puts it into a nice list of new updates. It’s just a way to condense your bookmarking, but it’s not as fun as reading on the actual sites because it’s less personal.

    Re. Zumba,
Don’t be scared ladies!!! Just go with a friend and stand in the back. It’ll be fun! It’s not hard to pick up and I’m sure there are lots of new people all the time.

    melissa ,
    Thank you!

    Joelle (Chasing Pavements),
Honestly, I didn’t think it was very hard. I did wear my HRM and only burned about 150 calories for the hour. But according to Diana, the more you get into the moves, the harder it gets, so maybe I just wasn’t funky enough for a harder sweat!?

I tried Zumba for the first time last week and I actually have the opposite problem — I had a hard time with the steps but I loved shaking the booty, haha. It is a great workout 🙂

The Zumba class I take is a definite workout – but it is true if you are new to it you can pick it up pretty quickly if you stay near the back. We had about 15-20 new people in my last class. I think the level of intensity depends on your instructor too. The guy who teaches my class is really high energy and fun.

So glad you enjoyed it! Sorry about your spicy dinner!
