Couch Potatoes, They’re What’s For Dinner

Just Matt, me, the couch and a pizza tonight!

BLOG-0511

I decided I should root for Wisconsin since Matt’s dad’s family is from the state and also because of the cheese hats and my love for cheese and the work I’ve done for the Wisconsin Cheese Council! image

I’m actually enjoying watching the football!

this !
I actually know the rules of sports thanks to my dad taking me to Duke football and basketball games and Durham Bulls baseball games for many years. But clearly the commercials are the best part. I think they’ve been kind of lame. No ones have made me LOL yet.

One funny thing: I commented early on that there haven’t been any good alien movies out in a while and all of a sudden the alien movie commercials started up! THEY KNOW!

I thought the halftime show was awesome! Loved those ALIEN people!!

A couplea drinks to start us out.

BLOG-0502

We paused the live TV to make up our pizza. Matt used whole wheat pastry flour to make a version of his whole wheat dough.

BLOG-0510

Toppings included peppers, olives, leftover pork and bland pre-shredded cheese Karen left here last week plus Nello’s Sauce, which made a perfect pizza sauce

BLOG-0506

It sure tasted amazing! The crust was very PANCAKE like!

BLOG-0516

BLOG-0522

BLOG-0526

On the side I made a spinach salad with avocado, soy nuts, dates, lavender salt and a drizzle of olive oil and honey (our honey is solid – hence the white blobs!). Cilantro for garnish!

BLOG-0525

BLOG-0518

BLOG-0521

BLOG-0517

A bit later we pulled out our leftovers from last night’s party and made sundaes on Sunday!

BLOG-0529

Apple pie with ice cream and caramel sauce

BLOG-0532

I’ve had this sauce on hand for AGES – a sample sent for review. Sadly, it tasted more like corn syrup than caramel so it is being recycled.

BLOG-0538

This tasted good, but now my stomach hurts from overload of sweet!

BLOG-0541

I really cannot remember the last time Matt and I spent this many hours on the couch. It’s quite nice!

Mmm, apple pie sounds perfect right now. I convinced myself I wasn’t a ‘pie person’, but who am I kidding. The caramel apple spice drink at Starbucks tastes just like warm apple pie. It’s too sweet for a regular drink, but makes a perfect special treat!

Happy Super Bowl! I’m 70% in it for the commercials, too.

I’ve been wanting to ask you all week… Your photos are looking so fun recently, sort of like there’s less contrast in the colors, maybe? I see it especially in the photos of you outside, with your sunglasses. Is there a specific reason? They look fantastic, and I didn’t know if it was an effect, or a lens, or something else. Thanks, Kath!

    Hi Kath,

Quick question – does that Kombucha give you a buzz at all? I know it supposedly has no alcohol now, but I had one in the office the other day and could swear I was feeling it a bit… just curious! Maybe it was a placebo effect. 🙂
