Stairway To Heaven

I’ve had such a fun and relaxing day!

BLOG-0455

Well, relaxing mentally – not physically! We climbed up Carter’s Mountain!

BLOG-0463

We met with Faith, Tate, Anna and Arlie and their dog to hike up the mountain from the Monticello Trail

BLOG-0437

Through the woods and up steep, steep hills!

BLOG-0441

BLOG-0444

And out onto Carter Mountain Orchard and Vineyards

BLOG-0445

BLOG-0446

BLOG-0451

Stunning views!

BLOG-0448

Smelly rotten apples

BLOG-0462

BLOG-0459

BLOG-0457

Scary mean guard dogs that Tate had to fight off with a stick!

BLOG-0456

But all in all, a wonderful 4 mile hike!

BLOG-0453

Arlie agrees!

BLOG-0469

BLOG-0475

BLOG-0479

Men and babies warm my heart [and my ovaries!]

BLOG-0486

I snagged a few grapes before we left…

BLOG-0489

…But I sure was ready for lunch when we returned!

BLOG-0490

Matt and I put together a bunch of leftovers with some eggins

BLOG-0492

Lotsa leftover kale

BLOG-0493

Grapes, which in our house are called gnomphs (Homer Simpson inspired!)

BLOG-0495

Toast + Great Harvest jam, which is the bomb!

BLOG-0497

Time for some pizza and football!

It looks like the dog is wearing a Halti or Gentle Leader head collar. It helps with a dog who pulls really hard on the leash, makes it easer to walk and control them. Some dogs take a while to get used to them, and maybe he isn’t thrilled with it, but if it helps him get to go on hikes, he’d probably rather be there than home. 🙂

I was once bitten by a huge Great Dane while running and now I am petrified. I am ashamed to admit it, but I have also been chased by a pack – yes, a pack – of chihuahuas that really scared me to death!
