Community Fun

IMG_7275-2Blog

I am wearing jeans and a sweater. Cool beans. [Wish the sun were out too though!]

Our events this morning were great. We were double booked, so Matt and I each took one.

I handed out slices of bread for the Walk To End Alzheimer’s

IMG_0472-2Blog

I had a fabulous group of UVA volunteers at the stand – which was mid-walk – who helped with the bread. (They were passing out water.) They were such a sweet bunch! We had about 700 walkers cruise by in about 20 minutes and got as many slices to them as we could! Everyone seemed very excited : )

IMG_0471-2Blog

After the walk, I walked back on home and then changed into running clothes to head to Matt’s event – a fundraising bazaar to benefit the Play On theater

Matt was there selling breads + sweets. I helped out for a bit and then ran back home. I cannot tell you how life changing this move has been! Going to both of these events would have been so much more complicated with our old house as a home base.

I’ve never gone to a race where bread was handed out. I’ve only seen bagels post-race, but I don’t think that compares to GH during a run or walk. I bet the participants were glad y’all were there!*

Thanks to you guys for volunteering your goodies and time for the Alz Walk. My uncle suffers from a devastating dementia disorder that started way too young and progressed rapidly. My aunt (and all of us) are huge fans of the Alzheimer’s Association and the work they do!

The GH canopy and table drape are so adorable! Love it!

      Yup those are nicknames!!

Kanz goes back to the college days – I never EVER call him Matt when I address him (part of the reason why he was “the husband” for so long on KERF

And Larbs is her childhood nickname too – also never call her Laura! We’re weird.

Just wanted to say thanks for supporting the Alzheimer’s Walk. Our walk is on Oct.01, and this will be the 2nd year for our family, in support of my youngest brother, who’s in the early throes of Alzheimer’s and dementia. Seeing support all over the country is heartwarming. Thanks, Kath.

I love how involved you two are in the community. I’ll be doing the Walk to End Alzheimet’s next Saturday here in St. Pete FL. It’s a cause near and dear to my heart as I lost my dad last year to dementia. Also, I’m a big theater person so also glad that you are helping the arts. A group of friends and I started up a non-profit theater company a few years ago and it’s people like you that help us succeed!
