Colorful

The new porch has been christened with our front-porch table and chairs (formerly our kitchen table). I love how open the porch is right now and the thought of filling it with bulky furniture frightened me. Once the table was in place, I didn’t really love the view anymore.

Until I added two beautiful antique teal Ball jars. And now every time I glance that way I light up inside. The color works magic! #thelittlethings

Matt and I have done a lot of lounging around this Sunday. It’s the calm before the storm of Christmas week at the bakery!

I’m also about as organized as I have ever been in my life – all the bills are paid, the house is organized and clean, all outstanding projects are complete (except for one I’m saving until January and a few ongoing things), I’ve got all of our travel docs in order for our trip next week, laundry is done, sheets are clean, kitchen is clean, meals are planned [roughly], there is a fair amount of food in the fridge, Christmas presents all wrapped, cards all sent, budget balanced. Days like this are what Sundays are all about. We are ready for the week ahead!

Part of our lazy day included a walk downtown to get just a few vegetables to bring to a party tonight. It’s gorgeous out there!

tmp_share-7Blog

Pumpkin aka El Leon came along for the ride

And then back at our house, we found him wishing himself inside. This is his favorite perch! He often scares us by jumping up there after dark.

tmp_share (2)-7Blog

I so wish we could bring him in, but his dander would send Matt right into a Kleenex box.

Lunch occurred earlier. We both made giant salads full of the goods.

I have a workout planned next, followed by a hot shower and Christmas Party fun!

The antique ball jars reminded me of how my step dad used to put glass jars and such up on the roof of our house and just leave them. I don’t remember how much time passed (but do know it took a while)… he would retrieve the items and they would be a neat shade of purple or blue like you have on the table. So, as far as I know… its the sun that antiques these things thru the ages. 😉

I tried to find it online. Looks like you can keep them in the window, too. Takes several months – from the article. It says the glass will turn purple due to the magnesium in the glass (but not all glass has magnesium).

Where are you both traveling to next week? I remember you had everyone guess where you and Matt are going, but I forget.

Has Pumpkin (A.K.A. El Leon), the cat, been snacking on too much of your pumpkin, and that is why you are calling it Pumpkin? (LOL) Or is that it’s real name?

Your preparedness is making me so jealous! I’m usually so on top of things, but with my finals STILL not over (chem is tomorrow night!, then bio…) there is more left on the to-do list than off! Christmas cards aren’t mailed (heck, the letter isn’t finished and the photo isn’t even taken), presents aren’t mailed and I had to resort to a boxed-mix of lemon bars to whip up for my husband’s office party tomorrow b/c I just do not have time for anything else! AHHHHHHHH! Not to mention the lack of food in the fridge, a million things left to do and we’re leaving Friday. This is what I get for taking 15 credits of science my first semester back to school in six years…

    Hi Kath,
We had the same problem with a stray cat that we finally took in and now is our indoor cat. I went online and talked to a Vet about the dander. Ben and I are both pretty allergic to the dander. He said first to start feeding the cat as pure food as possible like a organic type cat food with no wheat or gluten. Then when the cat comes to cuddle wipe her down with Whisker City fragrance free kitty wipes. She may love this. Do it like twice a day and for a week solid and then comb her with a shedding comb. The let her in the house a few hours a day and let her mark her scent through out the house. Also use pine litter this will help as well. Then have your husband wipe her down with the wipes a few times. This will get rid of the remaining dander and help him to. The process takes a few weeks but o so worth it to give a lovely kitty like that a warm home like yours. Your husband should be fine and notice that he reacts less and less till nothing. The key is the food and also once she is in do not let her out too much. We buy this brand: http://www.castorpolluxpet.com/our-products/for-cats/cat worth every scent because now we can have Cashmere in our lives without the swollen eyes and the sneezing.
    hope that helps,
    Shara
