Cold In Virginia

Hurr update : ) Kudos to Rachel!

IMG_5522Blog IMG_5524Blog

Remind me never to go into Kroger again! I popped in there after my hair cut to get some last minute recipe ingredients and spent way too long digging through wilted lettuce and waiting in a mile long line. Yikes!

After running all of my errands, I came home to make a super duper salad

IMG_5508Blog

IMG_5514Blog

Spinach, peppers, celery dressed in olive oil, rosemary salt and honey with leftover salmon and dill from Tracy’s party! And cappppers!

IMG_5515Blog

IMG_5499Blog

And a slice of sunflower toast (from the Bread Basket brought over by Karen) with some peanut butter coconut butter by Tropical Traditions. Mmm doughy.

Your hair looks really nice. And I’m so sorry you have such a poor Kroger. My Kroger is a wonderful place… has almost everything Whole Foods has at better prices.

omg capers. i just ate them for the first time last week. they were fine (not great, just…fine, hehe) cooked but the smell right out of the jar hit me like a dead fish and i almost didn’t throw them in the pan! glad to know other people enjoy them as is, so i can attempt it again.

I was looking at capers last night, but they are LOADED with sodium! 🙁 Love the gorgeous salmon atop your salad. YUM YUM YUM

Ugh, the way you feel about Kroger is the way I feel about Bloom. They have such limited selections of healthy foods and their veggies all have mold on them.

    ICK.

Have you seen the new Kroger Fresh concepts? They may just be in GA, but it is MUCH better. Lots of fresh, organic veggies and Whole Foods-like products.

I really liked Kroger for their double coupons while I was in college. I was disappointed when I moved to St. Louis and found no Kroger stores, but a more recent visit to one in a northeast Missouri town convinced me that maybe I’m not really missing anything.

Kroger is the only option for me when I’m at school but when I get home it’s just Whole Foods. (And I have to go like every single day to make up for all the times I want to go when I’m at school and can’t). I love putting salmon over salad like that! Looks good.

I wanted to thank you, by the way, for giving me inspiration for a present for my SIL this year! I always see you using these fancy flavored salts and they sound SO GOOD. When I saw a sample set at a fancy little shop, I thought of you and figured she would like them, too! I’ll let you know how she likes them.
