Chicken Fried

This house has never been this clean!! Well, maybe when we moved in. I am a clutter fanatic and our house always looks clean, but honestly, the crevices and corners are disgusting. This summer I’ve tackled some organization and cleaning projects (ahem, the garage) and it’s starting to look better and better. The guest room shower, which Matt uses when he’s up before I am, was DISGUSTING!!! I scolded him for not telling me. Our houseguests will now be cleansing in a sparkling white shower after I spent some time on my hands and knees in there.

Once Matt got home I had him assist me in getting rid of this gross giant spider web that has been in between our dining room windows for almost 2 years. It was very hard to get to (the vacuum hose wouldn’t fit) but with teamwork, we got it out.

At 11:00 I left for my running date with Stacey! She lives in CLT and is studying to be a dietitian technician. We ran 5 solid miles, which felt effortless to me thanks to conversation.

IMG_8883 (1024x768)

Then I came home and breezed through the mowing. I stopped for a thirst quencher and chose this Clif Quench sports drink due to the length of my workouts and sweating degree. I poured half the bottle into my water bottle for a boost. Times when sports drinks are important:  workouts over 60 minutes, esp. in heat. I really l liked this lime flavor!! The first one I tried was a berry, I think, and the lime was much better. These are all-natural too, which is always a plus.

IMG_8884 (1024x768)

The grass wasn’t that long and skipped some sections that didn’t even need cutting, so I was done in 30 minutes.

Showertime!!!

Then it was 2:00 and I was very ready for lunch. That cereal bowl held me over for 5 hours! They key to cereal satiety is something hearty and high fiber/protein, voluminous fruit and a little fat in the form of nut butter or nuts.

I decided to make a Huge Jass salad and top it with these! I am NOT a chicken nugget person, but gosh these taste amazing, so maybe I’ll turn into one. They really do have a great fresh flavor.

IMG_8885 (1024x768)

I also sauteed some zucchini, tomatoes, carrot, and green pepper with some Mustard BBQ sauce

IMG_8888 (1024x768)

IMG_8886 (1024x768)

And rounded out my Southern meal with the newest scuffin: jalapeno corn bread!!!

IMG_8887 (1024x768)

Plus avocado and goat cheese –

IMG_8892 (1024x768)

IMG_8890 (1024x768)

IMG_8891 (1024x768)

I actually couldn’t finish the salad. Fullness hit me like a brick about 3/4 of the way through. I did manage to eat all the good parts and left tomatoes and lettuce 😉

IMG_8889 (1024x768)

That super sweet VeggieGirl sent me some new nut butters to try!!! After I opened the hazelnut last week we got to talking about other flavors and she loves these so much she sent them for me to try too! Liz, thank you and you are way too kind!!

Brazilnut and Almond Haze (hazelnut!). I’m going to have to use up some of my others before I can open these – I can’t wait!

What are your bathtub scrubbing tips? Mine always looks grungy because it’s an older tub 🙁 I can’t use straight-up bleach because it leaves spots. HELP!

I love reading about your productivity…so inspiring! So, random question: do you ever/have you ever craved junk food? Like, do you ever just have to have a Snickers bar or some Doritos?! Sometime you seem too perfect and it’s a hard standard to try to reach for! Love all your tips though – you’re great!

So glad you enjoyed your run with Stacey! It must have been fun to chat with another person in the field!

LOVING the salad. I’m not usually a fan of chicken nuggets either, but these definitely don’t look like the greasy, chewy ones I think of when I hear “chicken nuggests.”

It’s always great to have a running buddy. It makes the time just fly by…

Love the cereal this morning. I have been adding some funky mix-ins to my oats these days – cacao powder, hemp seed powder, and goji berries. Soooooo good. I wasn’t sure how I would like the hemp seed, but mixed with the cacao, it ROCKS.

    Have a great weekend Kath!
