Kath Eats Carrots + Cake

Look who came to visit!!! Tina + Mal wanted to come to the South and we planned a visit a few months ago. We’re so excited to show them around!

IMG_8907 (1024x768)

Before heading to the airport, Matt and I walked to HT for some deli meat for tomorrow’s lunch and I had the best. snack. ever!

Oikos, blueberries, AgavePlus

IMG_8899 (1024x768)

Once back from the airport, the usual beerfest occured as Matt brought out some brews to share.

IMG_8902 (1024x768)

Cheers!

IMG_8901 (1024x768)

Tina and I shared a Carolina pumpkin ale (x2)

IMG_8900 (1024x768)

Look at these darling hand towels they brought as a house warming gift!!!!!!!!!!! Plus a cute Boston calendar 🙂

IMG_8903 (1024x768) IMG_8905 (1024x768) IMG_8904 (1024x768)

After some chatting and a house tour, we headed uptown for dinner – to meet a big group of friends!

At Zada Jane’s!!! Everyone’s been tellling me I had to go, and I was very impressed! Go look at the menu 😉

IMG_8908 (1024x768)

It was so funky and cool inside –

IMG_8909 (1024x768)

I debated: wine/beer, wine/beer, wine/beer, but I settled on wine because I knew I’d make it last longer.

I had the True Earth Pinot – which was organic! Hoping this helps prevent a hangover 🙂

IMG_8911 (1024x768)

Matt got a Vanilla Porter, which was AMAZING!!

IMG_8910 (1024x768)

We decided to share an appetizer, and wanted the squash cakes but they had onions, so we went for the vegetarian nachoes. I had about 6-7 chips (?) and we shared the rest with the table.

IMG_8913 (1024x768)

Michelle + Ben let me taste their hummus + pimento cheese platter

IMG_8915 (1024x768)

For my entree I got The Chop Salad – Fresh broccoli, romaine, feta cheese, tomatoes, sprouts, roasted corn, garbanzo beans, carrots, mushrooms and parmesan croutons ~ with an AWESOME lemon dressing. Cleared my plate!

IMG_8917 (1024x768)

Matt got The No-Da Salad – Baked marinated tofu with tomatoes boil egg, artichoke hearts, avocado, roasted corn, white cheddar cheese, sunflower seeds, sprouts and organic spring mix – equally good!

IMG_8916 (1024x768)

They had Carrot Cake on the menu – how appropriate!

IMG_8919 (1024x768)

Diana got the most delicious Fuji Apple Caramel Cake and shared a bite. Love just having little tastes of things 🙂

IMG_8921 (1024x768)

Our group, minus Matt, who left early to go to bed for work tomorrow 🙁

IMG_8925 (1024x768)

Tomorrow we’re taking a trip to the low country!!

That place is so cute! I feel like the south has so many quaint, funky little places. The Northeast has to start getting on board!!

And – VANILLA PORTER!? That sounds amazing!! Did it actually taste like vanilla??
