Casa Blanca

Say hi to the new KERF kitchen!

IMG_0349 (600x450)

[Minus the door in the room ๐Ÿ™‚ ]

I’m really excited about the new kitchen and its modern features โ€“ cork floors and concrete counters. And the sink โ€“ oh man โ€“ the sink is why we bought this house! Also, the curved wall ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been chillin’ with painter Justin [the house is currently mostly white with gray trim and we’re painting 4 rooms!] and had a few other meetings. Waiting on the internet/TV person now. Currently on Cville’s downtown mall blogging โ€“ free Wifi!! I WALKED HERE!!!

Knowing I’d be gone all day, I packed a lunch:

IMG_0357 (600x450)

The usual salad with bleu cheese, peppers, yellow tomatoes and spinach. Plus olive oil and pumpkin spice balsamic from the Boston Olive Oil company.

IMG_0354 (450x600)

For the ‘protein’ component I had cottage cheese with fig jam and ground flax

IMG_0353 (600x450)

Matt brought me a hunk of Cville Crunch from the bakery

IMG_0355 (600x450)

The sellers left their fancy microwave that has a mini oven on the bottom โ€“ perfect for heating bread. I am not yet sure if I’m going to let this ‘wave take up countertop real estate, but it does look kinda cool and shiny modern.

IMG_0348 (600x450)

Chocolate for dessert

IMG_0356 (600x450)

This house is almost starting to feel like ours!

IMG_0352 (600x450)

I’m a tease. More photos later!

VERY cool! How exciting for y’all.

The last house we lived in had a build in microwave above the stove so we got rid of our countertop one. When we moved to where we are now, we realized we would need to buy another one – but in the few weeks that we went before we got to that on our list we realized we didn’t want to lose counter space and didn’t really miss the microwave anyway. So we’re going without!

The new kitchen is gorgeous! They say that when you remodel a house, the most bang for the buck comes from the kitchen and bathrooms and judging by how cool that kitchen is (cork floors, concrete counters, the microwave)..I’d say it was a good bang for their buck and yours since you’re now the lucky recipient of that kitchen.

You two seem to be handy/talented in lots of areas, but you certainly are busy. The time and the mess involved is what bothers me the most about painting, I don’t really mind the actually painting, but two young children make painting and other projects more challenging. My husband is very handy so we do a lot of the work on our 1930’s house but we also hire someone to things like refinishing floors and texturing walls and ceilings. My next project is to make some curtains. Have fun with organizing and decorating and before you know it you will be all settled in!
