KERF = Tennis Ball

Annddddd….we’re back to Comcast.

I spent HOURS on the phone with Century Link + DirecTV today when they didn’t show up for my appointment. I bounced back and forth – harder than a tennis ball – from the two companies.

IMG_0358-2Blog

It was not pretty. In fact, very ugly. No, my service will not be $59.99. Someone lied to me. $100 was the correct price. And I was transferred to about 6 different numbers and on hold or the phone for a total of 2 hours. Enough to burn out my phone and body’s batteries.

IMG_0361-2Blog

GUFFFFFFF. Today’s calls made Comcast look pretty. So we’re staying with them.

Mid phone call hunger:

IMG_0363-2Blog

Hail Merry Grawlnola – love this flavor and the touch of cinnamon

IMG_0362-3Blog

I also cleaned under the fridge when Justin went back there to tape the trim. SO.much.dog.food. But I got it pretty clean! I’ve never cleaned under the fridge before, I am embarrassed to say, so it felt pretty responsible of me! [All the doors are from the other parts of the house where he is painting!]

IMG_0359-3Blog

When I finally got home, beer was necessary.

IMG_6841-2Blog

Matt arrived shortly and we opened this new pumpkin beer by Shipyard.

IMG_6837-2Blog

Not a fan. It was weak. Could have just been another amber ale. Such a shame!

IMG_6839-2Blog

I made a special stop on my way home to pick up dinner ingredients. We were supposed to go over to Faith + Tate’s but Faith is sick!! 🙁 Sadness.

IMG_6845-2Blog

So I picked up some loganic bison and we feasted on sliders on Honey Whole Wheat buns – with a puddle of K+M!

IMG_6847-2Blog

Broccoli on the side – seasoned with garlic gold crumbles!

IMG_6852-2Blog

IMG_6849-2Blog

After that, we fell in love again over this Berkshire’s Brewing Imperial Stout. I told Matt the Century Link + DircTV story and he told me about today at the bakery. A nice close to the evening.

IMG_6854-2Blog

Then I ate a few Biscoff. The real close to the evening!

Larbs + Matt are coming to visit this weekend! That’s something real fun!

I am so upset about that, because there were pictures in my Inbox that I did not put in a folder!!! I am hoping that tech. support can retrieve all the emails.

Sliders are little burgers served on little buns. Because we use our GH rolls so often as buns, we’ve been making little burgers. It’s a great way to get the burger craving without eating a humongous burger.

I say stick with Comcast/Xfinity! We have tried to find a better deal with numerous providers and keep coming back. OnDemand keeps improving everyday, cable internet is fabulous and the phone doesn’t go out in every storm. And, if you call them every once and a while and tell them you are thinking of switching, they search around to see what price breaks they can give you. Oh, and I love the idea of pumpkin ale and cinnamony Biscoff – can’t wait to try!

I used to work for Sprint and customer service in call centers has gotten so horrible over the years. Even when I was an employee I had a hard time finding someone who could help me. It just seems like people don’t want to take responsibility or do anything to help someone, it’s just a paycheck. That’s why I get mad fast and use a very stern voice and ask for a supervisor right on the spot… I hate doing it, but it works.

During our last move, we decided to try directTV and were quoted a great price. I was so excited about all the money we were going to save… and then the guy showed up to install everything and we got a different story–> our bill was going to be almost twice as much!! I spent a couple hours on the phone (mostly on hold) trying to cancel our service. Such a HORRIBLE company!

Time warner cable is more expensive, but we’ve always had good customer service!

Man, I’m sure gonna miss pumpkin beer this season! I almost grabbed a 6pack at the store the other day, and then I remembered… butter bean (our nickname bc that’s what he/she looked like on the US) can’t have beer 🙂

I can’t wait to see some house pics!!!!!!!

I had the same issue with Direct TV last week. I was ready to switch from Comcast for our new house but they NEVER could confirm a price and kept avoiding the question when I asked. And I had to go and was told I could not call the rep back and that she would call me as soon as she could but could not guarantee a time. She called the next day at 8 PM. I just gave up and Comcast was there the next day setting us up.

Funny. I’m sitting here reading this for the first time with Jamie. He thinks it sick how not only do we both clean under the refrigerator, but we did it simultaneously without knowledge of doing so. However, I assure you, what was under my fridge was WAY WORSE! It’s the first time I cleaned under it in 5 years…and we used to have 3 dogs upstairs before Levi.

Hoping to make it to the bakery today for some bread and nut butter of some sort 🙂

    🙁
My dinner wasn’t suited for guests, that’s for sure; a dry piece of Dekota and some miso soup. The bread was amazing though, of course.
I will make dinner up to you sometime soon!

We have a shipyard pumpkin beer up here in CT, brewed in Maine, but it has a different label (it’s the headless horseman with the jack-o-lantern head), and is AMAZING. I suggest seeking it out!

Eep! Bummer about the two hours on hold. Next time you have to call customer service (gulp), maybe give http://www.fastcustomer.com a try? (Of course, that might mean less on-hold munching of delicious granola, but you could just have such a snack attack *without* being on hold, too.) 🙂

Those bison loganic sliders look delicious!

I just made the most of out gardenburgers the other night, made them in a frying pan with extra virgin olive oil (instead of recommended spray), grilled the cherry tomato foccacia bread we used for buns, and served with butterkase cheese, crips dill pickle and crunchy red onion and of course a healthy dollop of stone ground brown mustard. It was delicious!

We’re still settling in to Sicily, and it’ll be a few weeks til we’re in our apartment, so I’m still on the look out for local/organic supplies; plus, finding that information is a little more challenging from what I’ve found so far.

So strange, I had the smashed pumpkin last year and thought it was very full of pumpkin flavor! Maybe this year’s batch is different? I’ve got a one of the big ones sitting on my counter, maybe I’ll open it tonight and see if I agree with you. Oh and glad you enjoyed the other Berkshire beer! 🙂

Whatever works, whatever…I am not saying other providers are not any better, But check out Wired Magazine’s articles on Comcast. While most the rest of the world gets high speed internet etc as a rule as they do not put a throttle on the speed, here in America we pay for different levels of speed. Comcast WAS the company that paid a large group of people to show up early and get in a line go into courtroom meetings and fill chairs and sleep in order to block any who wished to argue against this throttling action on the net which comes out of GREED and also slows our business world and competitiveness with the rest of the world. I also have to say all providers are all extremely slow at times in responsiveness [I have tried them all] and no I do not work for any of them. The pumpkin beer makes me think about drinking as a sober ex drinker I have to say it sounds great. Cheers!

Darn! I forgot to add a illustration within my comment of what’s a matter with letting them make some money with levels of speed [Besides the effect on business]…..So here it is; Hi just moved in huh well you need some water but at the bottom tier your glass will take a hour to fill so you might wanna boost that up to our next tier plus a additional charge from us to take the trouble…and when you realize that’s not much better another additional charge and you will be able to fill it within about ten minutes.Etc..these companies are not only charging us for flow rate but amount used too, I don’t have to worry about that with my electric or water bill so WTF. I no longer pay for any cable television and am happy with commercial free disc and open air television. Cheers!
