Bumps In The Night

Curses to caffeine, garlic, strange noises and butt bruises!

All four kept me tossing and turning last night and now I feel like a zombie 🙁 Should not have had iced tea with dinner – but I always forget that has caffeine!

Also, rolling over was very hard with the lump on my butt

this !

I’m awake though, and oatmeal tasted good.

Oh, curses to photography in the dark dining room too!

Matt’s Mix

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 3/4 banana
  • Pinch chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup cottage cheese
  • Toppings: Butterscotch chips, coconut, chopped almonds, a tiny sprinkle granola, Barney Butter

Did you see the intro to The Simpsons last night? HILARIOUS! The whole episode was. And both The Office and 30 Rock were hysterical this week. 3 fer 3!

IMG_2019 (640x427)

Annnnnnnnnnnd I’m off to work early this week for an earlier shift. Hopefully I’ll be finished earlier too!

We do half caf iced tea here. It is tricky with the caffeine since it is refreshing on warm spring/summer nights! Yeah, the storms here last night kept us all up through out the night! Tossing and turning is so frustrating especially when you have to get up early. Hopefully it will be a good busy day so it will go by quickly! Butterscotch in oats…great way to start Monday!

Subconscious taking over I guess.

Sorry about your crummy night’s sleep! Those are the worst, especially on Sunday night/Monday morning when you know you have the whole week ahead of you.

I’ve been a KERF follower for a while and have never commented, but wanted to tell you that I tried Overnight Oats for the first time today and LOVED THEM! I’m lactose intolerant so I used hemp milk and coconut milk yogurt with my oats, a little Bob’s Red Mill 7 Grain, and banana. This morning I added chopped strawberries, kiwi, and blackberries. YUM!

Dietician question: I didn’t add any nuts or nut butter today (which I usually do with my hot oats) because I brought a PBJ for lunch. Is there enough protein in ~1/2 c yogurt to count or should I think of adding another protein source to my breakfast?

OKay, this is random and has nothing to do with this specific post…but I am going to ask anyway!
I have noticed that you have great, clear skin. I was curious as to if what you eat affects your skin? (not necessarily “you” but just in general) My skin has always been pretty clear but lately it has not been so great. I am wondering if my change in diet has something to do with it!?
    thanks!

I haven’t noticed a correlation with greens or anything specific about my diet. But when I was much heavier my skin definitely took a turn for the worse. I think weight/hormones are much more of an indicator of skin than actual foods. I also think Bare Minerals are awesome!

I keep reading online about how soaking oats prior to eating them is so much healthier, and I was wondering about your take on that. I figured it sounded easy enough, so I tried it (soaking them in water in the fridge over night, then cooking in the morning with milk) and was less than thrilled. The texture was kind of gross!
