Active Relaxation

My backside is S.O.R.E. this morning!! That conditioning class was full of squats and lunges and I couldn’t wait to stretch out this morning. I did yoga by candlelight before the sunrise this morning – Yogadownload’s Gentle Hatha I. According to the description for restorative yoga, it is “synonymous to active relaxation.” I love that!

Next on the schedule was breakfast. Including a craving for coffee! I decided to do French press today. I hope I did it right! I think I had the water too hot, but the coffee turned out great once it cooled. We’ll see if my sleeping is affected tonight. I feel a little buzzed at the moment 😉

Today’s Mix:

  • 1/3 cup oats, 1% milk, water, tiny banana, pinch salt
  • 2 dried figs, chopped
  • 1 tbsp wheatberries
  • Small handful sugared peanuts, chopped
  • ~ 7 butterscotch chips
  • ~1 tsp coconut butter flakes
  • ~1 tbsp spoonful Barney Butter

Fabulous!

A nice chandelier!

Those classes can be killer…my glutes/quads/hamstrings often hurt for a couple days after them. Yoga should help with that!

Have a great ‘no school’ day! Thanks for the PSA…hehe

This morning I made oatmeal with toasted walnuts in the micro like you do, for a minute and a half. It smelled and tasted like popcorn. :/
Should I cook it less? Has this happened to anyone?

Your meals always look so tasty & I get some great recipe ideas from you!

But I have a question for you: I looked up the nutritional information on the coconut butter and saw that it is high in saturated fat and high in “regular” fat even though it has no cholesterol. (I’m watching my intake on that). So aren’t you worried about the high saturated fat content? I keep reading that high saturated fat content is bad for cholesterol even though the product might have zero cholesterol. I’m confused.

Did you start doing yoga via the downloads or have you done yoga in a class setting before doing it on your own? I really want to try the yoga downloads, but am a little apprehensive because I have never practiced yoga before.

    jsr ,
I filled the whole glass thing up with water and just dumped probably 3-4 tbsp of coffee – which I am sure is not the right amounts!

    Kelsey ,
Do you mean just toasted the walnuts in the microwave? Because I don’t make my oats in there!! Toasted walnuts should smell fragrant – maybe stick to 60 seconds if they were almost burned?

    Marie ,
If I were eating the coconut butter by the cupful, perhaps, but I have literally about half a tsp on my oats! Since I eat a diet with very little saturated fat on a regular basis, I am not concerned the slightest about some from a tiny bit of coconut butter.

    DaisyMay ,
That’s a good idea – I will try to remember! Remind me if you don’t see any on Mondays and Wednesdays.

    elv ,
I have done a few classes in my life, but YogaDownload is not only FREE (so you have nothing to use) but I find the beginning level ones to be very easy. You can search by level to find the beginner ones. Try Gentle Hatha I, and study the pose guide PDF first.

    marisa ,
    Yes, http://www.todoist.com

    Mel
Yes, but I probably used too much coffee.

    sara ,
I prefer flavored coffees, especially Fresh Market’s. I don’t like them burnt tasting or high acid.

    BethT ,
I’ve read that caffeine takes 24 hours to clear your body, so it doesn’t surprise me.

    Ruby Red Vegan
    Thanks for the link!!

    Nick ,
Ah-ha! You were the 10th person who did not email me and send me your address!! I only had 9 winners email me. If you send it to me I will see if Jennifer will send you your jar.

    Heather ,
I didn’t think it was any better, and it was more of a mess/pain to deal with, so I’m not really hooked, but since our pot is broken, it’s my only option.
