Oh Say Can You See

I’ll be the first to admit that my music collection is extremely random and quirky. You’ve gotten a taste for the variety I have – TV theme songs, country, rock, musicals, dance, rap, classical. And since I have an iPod Shuffle, you never know what’s next. I normally don’t use my iPod on the gym cardio machines because I find it a little hard to read a magazine and listen to music at the same time, but for some reason I did today. And you probably won’t be surprised to hear that the first song to blast out of the headphones was the Morman Tabernacle Choir’s version of the Star Spangled Banner. Listening to the song so high up on the Stepmill above all the other people working out made me feel like an Olympic athlete! I highly recommend adding some patriotic music to your iPods 🙂

I had a very nice morning: I knocked some things off my list and studied Psychology for a while. All the theories of development are so interesting. I should  have been a psych major like my sister, as I find the human mind to be so fascinating. I really liked it from the start, but I had a very, very hard professor my first semester freshman year and therefore chose a different academic pathway.

I also had on 3 layers of clothes to try to keep warm (despite that the heat is set to 68*). And I came up with this solution to typing to keep my hands a little warmer! It works well!

After 3 hours of studying I headed to the gym via bike, bundled up with winter coat, gloves, extra fleece and all. I’m always toasty when I arrive after the 2.5 mile ride. I did 30 minutes on the Stepmill and some abs and headed home. I am still amazed with my increases in flexibility. I can easily touch the floor now in a forward bend. I used to just barely be able to reach my toes!

I was excited about my lunch plans – leftover Chicken Parm with a few Whole Wheat Noodles over a Bed of Spinach with Homemade Croutons and some grapes.

IMG_0469 (768x1024)

I added a bit of fresh cheese to the chicken and some fresh parsley –

IMG_0470 (768x1024)

And some of the best croutons ever –

IMG_0472 (768x1024)

IMG_0473 (768x1024)

Grapes!

IMG_0468 (768x1024)

And come green tea with lemon

IMG_0474 (768x1024)

This was almost too much of a lunch for me – I’m feeling quite full and lethargic at the moment!

Moving on to Biochem and Food Science! The husband just arrived home and is napping after a 12-hour day that started at 3 this morning.

I’m amazed at how many people can’t actually touch the floor or their toes in general. I’ve always been able to. Good on ya for working on that flexibility 🙂

I really want to try the stair mill one of these days but am a little self concious about it! Probably because I have a crush on one of the personal trainers and don’t want to look dumb! It seems like a great workout though so I will try!

I have “God Bless America” on my ipod shuffle (which I love because it’s so light…so light I managed to lose 2 of them!). I first heard it on an episode of Family Guy and I loved it. And no favorite music for me- pop, rock, rap, showtunes, soundtracks, country, alternative, etc.

If anyone else is in the market for functional indoor gloves I know a woman who makes great ones that are soooo soft and warm:

Yum, I always eat chicken parm on top of a bed of spinach. The leaves get kind of wilty and its wonderful! Glad I’m not the only one!

That’s a great idea about the patriotic music. What about the Olympics theme? I might have to try that!

Yum, your lunch looks great! I love eating a sweet potato with cottage cheese on top of a bed of spinach. I usually add some pear, craisins, and a little honey mustard dressing (along with Fiber One for some crunch) … it’s a quirky but totally awesome taste combo!!

I had the Rocky themesong and Eye of the Tiger on my mix for the half-marathon (in Philly) it was really appropriate and pumped me up 🙂

    Tiffany ,
Well, at the beginning of yoga I could touch my toes, but not very well. Now I can touch the floor well (when I am warmed up).
