A Friday In April

It’s Friday already!? You’re kidding me.

It’s April already!? You’re kidding me.

Time is flying!

IMG_5690Blog

After a good night’s rest, I woke up excited for Scottish oats and sunshine!

IMG_5679Blog

Topped with Faith’s manna bread, this bowl was divine!

IMG_5685-2Blog

The Manna Mix

  • 1/4 cup Scottish oats [ground steel cut oats]
  • Lots of water, splash of milk, pinch of salt
  • Half banana
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Blue Diamond Almond Butter
  • Coconut
  • Faith’s manna bread crumbles

IMG_5688-2BlogIMG_5691Blog

Cup half empty…

IMG_5682Blog

Since I’m only drinking half a cup of coffee, I’m finding myself not as full after breakfast! It’s quite annoying. Perhaps it’s time to switch to tea. Although tea doesn’t make itself with the flip of a button like coffee does.

The end.

Ha ha ha nice april fools!

I have a question for kath and anyone else who can help. My newborn isnt gaining enough weight so the doc said to go on a high fat diet so I start making whole milk instead of skim. Talk about backwards! What would you eat? I dont want to go overboard on protein since a really high protein diet increases the risk of sids eightfold…..I am not a yogurt or avocado fan.
Aside from evoo, avocados, and nuts…what are some other fatty foods I could eat?
Kath if you were told to do this..what on earth would you do?

Fish! Salmon, herring, sardines to name a few. Don’t be afraid of fat. What about yogurt? Get 2% Goat’s yogurt. It’s higher in fat and tastes great. Greek yogurt is good too but it’s higher in protein so not sure if your supposed to have that or not.

…and chocolate is always acceptable right? 😉

I would say just make small changes where necessary. Full fat yogurt, cheeses, and milk – and don’t forget the ice cream!! 🙂

Infants and toddlers should always have full-fat versions of everything unless other prescribed by a pediatrician. So you could also add in whole milk yogurt and cheeses.

Tara- is your baby getting enough of the rich and fatty hind-milk? The baby doesn’t get the hind milk until after 15 minutes of nursing. The initial fore-milk is mostly carbohydrates. If you aren’t already doing so, perhaps nursing longer on one side or just nurse one side at a time to insure that your baby is getting the richer milk.
