You are here: Home / Weekend / A Break From Sitting

A Break From Sitting

My favorite type of days involve both standing up and sitting down.

This morning I sat down and worked at my computer for a few hours. And then I stood up and…cleaned the attic!!

Nesting much? I pretty much just sorted things by category and pushed them all back so it feels more spacious up there. It was not the smartest task for me to do 29.5 weeks pregnant, but at least it wasn’t too hot up there and I hate nagging Matt to do things like this that I get pleasure out of ( = anything organization).

IMG_2516

Despite the cool morning, I returned to the main floor a sweaty mess! And since, the sun has come out and summer humidity is here! Yay! I probably should have showered after this project instead of before..

I worked on my feet a bit more around the house doing housework things and then realized I should probably have lunch. I didn’t have much of an appetite – from the activity and the heat – but a smoothie sounded refreshing.

IMG_2545

Smoothies are deceiving because they look so light but they really can pack a lot in.

This guy contained swiss chard leaves…

IMG_2535

Greek yogurt…

IMG_2537

Blueberries, banana, milk and ice – plus about 1/3 cup of raw oats.

IMG_2542

Coconut butter drizzled on top. I hit most of the food groups there!

IMG_2548

On the side I enjoyed some pretzels and sharp cheddar, my current favorite food.

IMG_2547

May your afternoon be warm and involve a little stretching!

Pretzels and cheddar are so good together – way better than the processed pretzels filled with cheddar “stuff”! Now I want some!

Why wasn’t it smart? As long as you weren’t doing a bunch of heavy lifting I don’t see what’s unsafe about it. <3

If you’ve been 29.5 weeks pregnant you’d know why she said it wasn’t the smartest. It’s not impossible it just makes things a bit more difficult. It’s definitely easier to do that kind of stuff when your body isn’t busy growing a human being.

I with I had your love of organizing, Kath. I love being organized I just hate getting there.

I am the other Jessica who commented but I wanted to say that I am 35 weeks pregnant.. so I have been 29.5 weeks pregnant and I know first hand how much more difficult certain things are.. just walking is difficult right now for me. She didn’t mention any lifting so I was wondering if there was something about the attic I didn’t know… so yeah :/ I for one didn’t mean it in a snarky or bad way at all. Just curiosity from one pregnant gal to another.

There’s a lot of nutrition packed into that lunch! I wish I had the nesting thing going on. 11.5 years after having my last son has left my drive to clean to be less that visible these days…the mess never ends!

That looks tasty! I have a Gaiam Balance Ball Chair at work (basically a Swiss ball that sits on a base with a lower back support) and every half hour or so I try to do some stretches on it. The best is when I’m draped over it and a co-worker walks past….. #awkward!!

Will you put a room or office in the attic in the future, or is the ceiling to low to have a room?

Don’t overdo it! I need you to come organize my closet! I have to be in the mood, which is not often.
I love all green vegetables, but I’ve never had veggies in a smoothie (well, a V-8 drink is all!) I’m not sure I could stomach it. The color does not look appetizing. Does it taste like vegetables? Or fruit? Sweet or savory?

I’m pretty much always in the mood for a smoothie in this crazy heat/humidity (I just got back from Chicago tonight and apparently I brought the weather back with me!). Of all the greens I’ve put in a smoothie before, I haven’t tried chard!

A friend and I were just talking last night about the things you do while pregnant and soon after giving birth that are not the best idea. Playing softball and other sports, exercising 7 hours before giving birth (although it helps labor), carrying bricks, climbing ladders, painting and other remodeling projects. Although it certainly made me feel good to stay busy and active while pregnant and it seems like you are the same way Kath. Pregnant women are allowed to do a lot more now than would have been acceptable in the past.

I went to the Whole Foods food bar yesterday and thought of this blog. Had grilled salmon and grilled veggies and berries. It was so delicious-especially after spending 6 hours in the ER with our 6 yro who broke her arm from falling off the monkey bars at our park. I could eat at WF every single day except that its so pricey. Will check out the nut butters next time I am there. Thanks!!!
